Bad stuff happens… but a good staff can make it all ok!

I would give this hotel a 5 star in a normal visit (great welcome, great corner room, fab bathroom). But then they had a catastrophe (broken water pipe on our floor ) and they proved they are a 10 star establishment. They took care of us
I would give this hotel a 5 star in a normal visit (great welcome, great corner room, fab bathroom). But then they had a catastrophe (broken water pipe on our floor ) and they proved they are a 10 star establishment. They took care of us seamlessly and made sure we felt compensated for our bother. They were kind, professional and efficient.
If you elect to stay here.. the entrance might put you off a bit, but once inside you will be delighted.
Thanks to all the staff at Eurostar Porto Centre and Douro for making a potential mess transparent to your guests.

Beautiful hotel in the center of Porto within walking distance to everything. We recently stayed at the Euorstars Porto Centro hotel and from the moment I walked in I was so glad we chose the hotel. It was in a fantastic location. There were plenty of shops
Beautiful hotel in the center of Porto within walking distance to everything. We recently stayed at the Euorstars Porto Centro hotel and from the moment I walked in I was so glad we chose the hotel. It was in a fantastic location. There were plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. While, the hotel does not have parking we did use the local underground parking garage just a few short blocks to the hotel.
The check-in process was smooth and we were able to check-in a bit early. They were able to secure us rooms next to each other so that our family could stay together. The rooms were very spacious and quiet! They were also very clean. I wish they had USB chargers but sadly they did not and we had forgotten our plug adapters. The front desk was able to lend us an adapter during our stay so that we would charge our electronics. Also the rooms do not have an ironing board or iron but they quickly brought us one when we called.
We did opt for the breakfast option and it was great. The kids found plenty of options they liked.
Now where they really excelled was in service! Unfortunately my son left his phone in the hotel room! The hotel tried to reach us numerous times and were going to try and have a porter drive it to us at the airport but as we already reached security it was too late. They arranged for prompt shipment of the cell phone to the US and were so communicative and helpful! The staff was so great and we are very thankful!
What a great experience at this hotel. I'm looking forward to coming back and staying here again.

Stayed in this amazing hotel for 3 nights. Excellent service from friendly staff. Beautifully decorated large room with modern amenities. Very close to the tiled Sao Bento train station. Walking distance to restaurants and Duoro River.

My wife and I enjoyed our visit to Porto and would recommend this stylish hotel, largely for location, cleanliness, breakfast and lovely staff. It is quiet, yet centrally located between the historic area and the river/bridge and a few minutes walk from the main railway station. Close
My wife and I enjoyed our visit to Porto and would recommend this stylish hotel, largely for location, cleanliness, breakfast and lovely staff. It is quiet, yet centrally located between the historic area and the river/bridge and a few minutes walk from the main railway station. Close also to some lovely cafes, and a marvellously cool retro barber. Spotlessly clean with all the facilities we expected/needed (including a brilliant shower - the bathroom layout referenced by others was not an issue). Breakfast buffet was marvellous, with some distinctively Portuguese options available.
Finally, thanks to all the friendly and highly professional staff who looked after us so well.

I stayed here three nights in June. I'm not sure I would pick this hotel again.
Let's start with the positives:
- the location is great! Very central. You're situated sort of in the middle of the hills - to go to the river, you head downhill

Let's start with the positives:
- the location is great! Very central. You're situated sort of in the middle of the hills - to go to the river, you head downhill
- the room was spacious, modern, and clean
- amenities provided were nice: includes lotion and conditioner. There's also a kettle in-room
- cold cucumber or some sort of fruit water is available in the lobby, which will also at times have a small snack (fruit, mini pastry, etc)
The not-so-greats:
- I found the bathroom rather bizarre. Like others mentioned, there's no door to the overall bathroom, just doors to the toilet and the shower. But if you think about it, you need to undress before you get in the shower. Which means you undress in front of an open doorway that faces the room?? And the shower is small so there's no place to hang anything, so coming out of the shower to grab your towel, clothes, robe, etc, you'd open the door to the room. You need to be very, very comfortable with whoever you're rooming. This is a design flaw.
- Our room was very far from the elevator and included a few steps that aren't accessible. We were stuck at the end of a dark, maze-like hallway that was EXTREMELY stuffy. The hallway seems to have no ventilation. Our room faced the air vents of another building, if we opened the window, it would smell like fried fish.
- This brings me to the A/C. It works okay but takes awhile to kick in and I found the room a bit stuffy. I'm 99% sure you can't actually control your temperature or fan level despite that you can press buttons to change the settings. I noticed when I turned up or down the fan speed, there was no change. So I tested this by turning down the temp to 17 C, and guess what? No change in temperature even after an hour. So control over room temp is merely an illusion.
- They offer you a 2-for-1 drink at the bar. We tried to go twice and both times there was no one there. No bartender, no guests. Just a very empty, dim room. Strange
