January Holiday Deals Holidays

January is one of the best months to book a holiday — and one of the best months to actually take one. Prices drop sharply after the Christmas peak, airlines release new-season seat allocations and hotels that were full in December have availability. If you want warm weather, reliable sunshine or simply a change of scene after the longest month of the year, the deals available in January deliver more for your money than almost any other time. Flights, accommodation and transfers in a single ATOL protected and ABTA bonded package.

Nobody wants to be in the UK in January. The days are short, the weather is relentlessly grey and the post-Christmas slump is real. The travel industry knows this, which is why January sees some of the most competitive pricing of the year — both for holidays departing in January itself and for summer deals booked during what the industry calls the January booking window.
For departures in January, the logic is simple: demand drops sharply after Christmas and prices follow. A week in Tenerife in the second week of January costs significantly less than the same hotel in the second week of July — for weather that, in the Canaries, is not dramatically different. The island sits at the same latitude as southern Morocco; January daytime temperatures average around 20°C and the sun shines reliably.
The same pattern applies across the short and medium-haul winter sun destinations. The Algarve, Madeira, the Cape Verde Islands, Egypt and Dubai all offer warm weather in January at pricing that reflects low season rather than the experience.

The other side of the January travel opportunity is less obvious but equally significant. January is the main booking window for summer.
Tour operators release their full summer allocation at the start of the year, and the first few weeks of January are when the widest choice is available at the lowest deposit. The properties that sell out first — adults-only resorts with free child places, specific room categories at popular hotels — are available in January and gone by March.
If you are travelling in the summer school holidays — July or August — and you want real choice over destination, hotel and room type, January is not too early. It is the right time. The travellers who book in late April and wonder why the property they wanted is fully booked or significantly more expensive are the ones who did not act in January.
