Good location, clean but basic and noisy

    rating09 Feb 2025

Stayed three nights before boarding Antarctic cruise. The hotel is well located within walking distance of restaurants, shops and attractions. No soundproofing and thin walls. Lots of noise from the hallways. The room was clean, albeit quite basic with minimal furniture: beds, night stands, a counter and a chair for two people. No closets, luggage racks, or even hooks.Thermostats were disabled and the room temperature could not be adjusted. I was told to open the window if we were too hot. There are no screens at the windows.Reasonably comfortable beds and pillows. Not all power sockets worked: some of them appeared to drain devices instead of charging them.Bathroom with everything in working order.Basic breakfast.Average wifi. For check-in, we received an email asking us to check-in online, by filling out a form on the hotel website with multiple questions including marital status and profession (which should be irrelevant for a hotel stay). However, when we arrived at the hotel, the front desk staff stated that they didn't have access to the online information, and asked us to fill out a paper form.Check-out time is fairly early (10:00).For the price paid, the hotel was ok. However, I wouldn't stay again.

    Centrally located with simple rooms

    rating26 Mar 2023

The location is very convenient (just a couple of minutes from the grocery store, surrounded by restaurants and coffee shops). The staff was ok but didn't particularly stand out. The room was clean and simple. Nothing too fancy (no safe). Not sure if all of them but my room was facing the sea which was very pleasant. WiFi was available in the room but could be better down in the lobby. Totally ok for a couple of days/nights to spend in Ushuaia.

Not great, use a different hotel

    rating20 Nov 2022

Not the best experience. The first room had blood on the bed cover and sheet (photo attached). The reception staff moved us to a new room but it didn’t get better. The room was boiling as the heating was stuck on high and the double bed was broken and squeaked like crazy every time you moved. So we had to try and sleep with the window open but unfortunately all you could hear was traffic. They did offer another room at 1AM but it was equally warm and the climate control just didn’t work. The breakfast was poor with nothing left when we went down there even though we were early. Staff were responsive though just not a great experience.

    Tale of two visits

    rating16 Mar 2020

We had 2 x two nights at the hotel Monaco, two nights before a cruise and two nights after. Our two experiences were very different. Our first visit we were allocated a room in the new part of the hotel. There was still building work going on, but it didn't impact us at all. The builders lift went right past our window (they never waved!!!). The room had three small single beds with a sheet and a blanket. Thought we would be cold, but the 7th floor was like a sauna and we needed the window open during the night. Room and bathroom were clean and clearly new. Our second visit was a different experience. We arrived early but were given the option to view a room in the original part of the hotel. I rejected room 304, it wasn't pleasant at all. At 2.30 we tried to check in, having been told we would get a room in the new part of the hotel. This didn't happen, we were given room 204, which was slightly better than 304. The bathroom had mould in various places. The small double bed had a thin duvet, this part of the hotel wasn't so warm!! We had to ask for towels, they arrived an hour later. We were offered the option to change rooms the following day, but we couldn't be bothered.Breakfast was poor. One cereal, some bread (which was very crumbly), jam, coffee, milk, yogurt.Overall, if you are guaranteed a room in the new part of the building and you don't mind a poor breakfast then this hotel is fine. If you can't guarantee a room in the new part of the building, then I would go somewhere else.

    UNSAFE

    rating15 Mar 2020

I prepaid for 2 nights (to save $) but only stayed one. The bottom line is that someone was rooting around in my room and the hotel staff showed zero concern about it. The full story: I stopped at the hotel before dinner and found my room had been cleaned (btw, no 'do not disturb' option). Otherwise all was well. When I returned from dinner, someone had been in my room - stuff was moved and the TV was on. I immediately told the front desk, and she offered to have the cameras checked the following day. I insisted that they be checked immediately, to which she tried to call an administrator but got no answer. There was no offer to give me a different room or any other show of concern so I asked for a refund (also required an administrator) and left.  No way I was staying there with no idea who was in my room or why.  I booked through hotels.com who assured me that was unacceptable and that they'd sort out my refund... but had to contact the hotel administrators first. First, it'd only take them half an hour to review the cctv. Half an hour later? Nothing. The next day - they needed another hour. I gave them 2. It was Saturday and the right people wouldn't be in until Monday. After all of that, my refund was denied with no explanation.  I still have no idea who was in my room or why, but I'm so glad I had all my valuables with me (no safe in the room).  PS. I only asked for a refund of the 2nd night, which I thought was pretty darn reasonable given how bad the first night was:First off: NO WIFI.  It existed but didn't actually work - got maybe 10 minutes of checking email before it died.  The hotel is under construction. My room had exposed fuses and no patio railing. But there also was no doorknob on the patio door so... yeah.  There were construction supplies on the patio wrapped in plastic that whipped around in the wind all night. Very noisy. And cold - no thermostat in the room and only a thin (stained) blanket provided. They stupidly chose to install soaking tubs instead of normal bathtubs. They look nice, but the bottom isn't flat at all. I'm 34yo with fantastic balance (paddleboarding and ice hockey) and my shower almost killed me. The beds are hard with limp pillows. Breakfast is supposed to stop at 10am but they stop putting out new food around 9am so by 9:30 your options are dry toast and/or lunch meat. They also aren't flexible about this at all - overhear an older woman seeing if they could eat 10 min early as they were doing a tour - denied.  My new hotel gave me the option to open breakfast early or pack me a lunch when I told them I'd have to check out before breakfast started.  If you choose to book here in spite of all this, also be aware that the name on the front of the building is something about being a hotel at the end of the world. I almost didn't go in just because I wasn't sure I was in the right place at all.
