    Best location, great staff, clean rooms.

    It is so lovely to be greeted by wonderful staff at reception (located next door at Waves), and to then walk into a spotlessly clean motel room. This is an old style basic motel so expect some quirks, but is located right in town and being near the beach is the Byron dream. I stayed in a queen room. Small fridge, jug and microwave in room and tv. There can be noise at busy times from external sources, music, holiday makers etc however this has not affected my stay and due to town location is to be expected. The upside is that you can walk to everything, beach, markets, cafes, Aldi, Woolworths, restaurants, hotels and retail shops. Housekeeping and reception will go out of their way to assist and especially Bronwyn who has helped me at reception and expertly manages with a smile, efficiency and friendliness.

    As soon as I entered, felt clinical and super depressing. Didn't have much of anything but I was just here to sleep. Happy that they had decent TV.The walls were so thin I actually heard snoring from next door. And then someone using the bathroom. Luckily, I had earplugs else I wouldn't have slept a wink. I also had to wake when they did as they were quite noisy in their preparation to leave in the morning.Unfortunately, things got worse for me when I checked out at Waves. All they did was ask me to put my keys in a bowl, which they acknowledged I did, only for me to get a nasty surprise when 6 hours later, they charged my credit card for "missing keys".After disputing with management, I got my money back.15+ years of travel and I never had so much drama for an overnight stay.     Stayed here for a night whilst passing through with adult son. What a great room in a great location. Just one block back from the beach with free parking right outside. We were early but able to check in.Large spacious for 3 adults, fridge, tea and coffee, etc. Iron, ironing board, tv, and shower amenities.It is a great find, spotlessly clean, quiet despite being central to everything

    Do not stay here!! The Motel is very unprofessional and they took every opportunity to steal our money on our unused portion of our stay with them. We booked for 3 nights March 21st- 24th. Prior our arrival I had messaged them about a week in advance asking if they could change our dates to the 20th - 23rd and that we would be arriving very late in the evening. I received no reply to my message. (I do not have a record of my message to them. However I would really like to see the message because I am almost certain I asked for a change of dates). So when we arrived on the 20th 10pm, we had to stay at another place which was really lovely and their front desk went above and beyond to accommodate us. It was a much better sleep than the Hibiscus Motel. The next morning I finally received a message from Hibiscus about arrangements of our late arrival but there was no mention about the change of dates!! When we checked on Friday March 21st I informed them we would be checking out 1 day early in Sunday March 23rd and that our dates were changed. That is 48 hours in advance notice. They said I could let them know on Sunday when I check out. When we checked out on Sunday, they said they would NOT REFUND ME the unused portion of our stay UNLESS THEY CAN REBOOK OUR ROOM. It says NOWHERE in our booking confirmation of this. Bromway who was at the front desk of Waves, which is partnership with Hibiscus, was not accommodating and quite smug. I told her I have text messages with +61 404 766 691 showing I messaged on Friday saying we were checking out early. I was not feeling well and actually had to cancel other plans too. I messaged Booking.com as well letting them know we would be leaving 1 day sooner. When booking a place to stay while away from home, we look for accommodations that will help us feeling comfortable, welcome, and at ease from our long travels, especially since we traveled from around the globe from one hemisphere to another. We have stayed in places all around the world and we have never been encountered with this. Booking.com messaged me and said themselves that they would have been happily been accommodating with our change of dates, but Hibiscus Motel refused stating if only they could rebook our room. AGAIN, it says NOWHERE in our confirmation booking that we are held to their ability to rebook the room. And out of consideration, I gave them 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE of our changes. And STILL NO REFUND.FYI: The Hibiscus Motel does not have an office. You have to use The Waves reception desk. And Bromway, who was there on Sunday March 23rd when checking out was extremely cold and curt, and clearly not accommodating. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL. Unprofessional. Unpleasant. Inconvenient. Thieves!!

    Good location as it was right by the beach and within walking distance of the shops and restaurants. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Would have been better if we had at least a stove top as the kitchen only had a microwave.
