  First time staying here and it wont be the last, pleasantly surprised from check in, room quality, amenities and the great food at Banjos.

  The hotel itself is great. Very clean and modern with comfortable beds and pillows. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to give drink vouchers to Accor Plus members like other Accor hotels, even though there does not appear to be any exemption on the Accor website, I showed my Accord Gold card at reception and the person asked me to write down my Accor Plus number on the check in sheet myself, and provided no drink voucher or any other information regarding the availability of an upgrade, food discounts, late check out etc. this is what generally occurs at other hotels in the scheme. To be honest she didn’t appear very knowledgeable or interested in the topic at all. Nor was she particularly happy or helpful. It wasn’t busy I was the only one in reception. Other reviews indicate the staff are very friendly, so maybe I just got wrong person on wrong day.

  Great place in Tamworth to stay

  This is a great spot to stay when visiting Tamworth or passing through. Rooms are always clean, everything works and staff are always nice. Car parking is easy as! And a bonus I discovered this time is there’s Tesla chargers at the Club next door. If I was management at Mercure I would advertise this because that’s a great bonus for EV drivers.

  After a long day of driving, delighted with our room and unexpected welcome basket. Clean and suitably appointed room. My only suggestion is to remove the soap dish in the shower- gets in the way.   Appalling stay, injured child, overcharged by $1,011, unauthorised deductions from credit card, policy breaches

  Overcharging, charging without permission, policy breach, injury, no customer service. Dont stay here they take your money change your reservation to suit their own purpose and ruin your trip.We have never had a more appalling experience with a hotel. I had booked 3 nights accomodation for the last weekend in Feb 25, in October last year. In the interim I got a new job and my boss asked me to stay for a meeting in Sydney which meant that my husband had to take the kids alone to Tamworth for one night, and I flew up the next day. I called the hotel to let them know he would be checking in, and I'd arrive a day later. I was informed it was against policy to allow anyone to checkin that wasnt a member on the member rate. I explained it was my husband, and I was coming for 2 of the 3 days of the booking. The reception person told me it was against policy and they must change the booking and book my husband for one night and change my booking to 2 nights. Laughably, this cost Mercure $5 as it was less for less people. They failed to send me a confirmation for the new one night booking and i had to email to request it. When my husband arrived he was told he only had the room for one night and then they needed to move rooms the next day. He was told it was a better room, which was untrue. My husband requested one room the entire time and he was told no. Then preparing for bed our daughter cut her arm on a sharp ledge in the bathroom. The next day my husband had to get up earlier to change rooms despite having to take the kids to their sport and work. He came back to the hotel and was told he had to pay for the next 2 nights (despite the room not being in his name - against policy, but OK when it suits Mercure), they then charged him for the full amount of our original three night booking, which he didnt realise as he was so stressed trying to work and run around. I came to Tamworth late in the day and realised the issue and demanded immediate refund, while the reception person claims to have done it immediately, we dont have the refund more than 2 days later. I told her we had a BUPA gift certificate to pay and that i would not be paying that until we were refunded in our account as that was our policy. Today, we were at sport again at 745am and before returning to check out on time, I checked our credit card for the refund (not processed) only to find that I had been charged again to our account. We have now been effectively overcharged by $1011. I asked to speak to the manager repeatedly and the manager was not available. We checked out to get back to the kids sport, then an hour or so later i called the hotel to check if the manager had called back. Apparently they had (and obviously they felt no need to tell me despite having my number) and the staff had been told not to refund anything and the manager would handle everything monday. They have taken our money, injured our child and caused us a bunch of stress and time wasting. Never stay there. Avoid at all costs.
