  Wallaroo Marina - Boardwalk Apartments - a "bad experiemce"

  We stayed at the Wallaroo Boardwalk Apartment Unit #9 (which is managed by the Costello Group who manage the Wallaroo Marina Apartments).We found a number of issues during the 3-day stay, which present serious safety issues that we reported to the manager. Firstly, there was a hole in the front deck which we reported on arrival and were told they knew about! (Solution, put a yellow safety marker over the hole). There was also a safety concern with the deck table, likely to break with any weight put on the table, and the material on the deck chairs, which were frayed and broken, ie, not usable. To top off our inability to enjoy the front deck and marina view, was the BBQ - firstly, 2 empty gas bottles, we then got reception to bring a replacement bottle, and then, only to find out the electronic ignition wires were cut! (Solution, told us that the BBQ was too dangerous to use, but it seems they were already aware of the BBQ problems).So, a $500+per night for a 3-night weekend, with a deck that had safety issues, a BBQ we couldn't use and no apparent concerns about guest or staff safety (since they appeared to know of the problems) it put a real negative on the weekend. On top of these issues, the laundry door didn't work, the dishwasher bottom tray didn't work and there were cleanliness issues, all of which were reported.We have tried (unsuccessfully, via email, approaching their front desk and texting the owner of the Costello Group) to get some resolution with the Costello Group (as managers of this apartment). They haven't acknowledged or thanked us for raising these concerns. Their only response has been two calls, 1). to offer a $100 voucher to use at their facility, and 2). a call to then increase the offer to a $150 voucher when we told them their offer was, and remains, inadequate. Neither offer costs the Costello Group a $ - why would we spend more $$$ to use a voucher, for who knows what sort of experience we would then get!!

  Great accommodation in Wallaroo

  Well worth the drive from Adelaide to depend a few days on the YP. Accommodation was very comfortable, breakfast was well organized and came on time. Dinner and drinks at the hotel was very good and very good atmosphere. As I travelled from Canada I enjoyed the local hospitality.

  Very welcoming on arrival. Clean modern and comfortable rooms with a terrific outlook over the marina. The location was just far enough out of the centre of town to be quiet and comfortable. Easy off street parking with great access to all rooms.

  We've spent 8 nights here and generally speaking we have enjoyed our stay. The view of the channel and beach from our balcony is very relaxing. The apartment was very clean on arrival, fully stocked kitchen with a full size fridge.We were in room 15 on the 3rd floor , centre of the building. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was very good as well.A couple of things we didn't like was the heavy sliding door into the bathroom, also being here 8 nights we weren't offered clean towels or if we wanted any top ups of tea coffee sugar etc . The central aircon is very noisy when it cuts in and out, to noisy actually.

  Reception and service staff are excellent but Penthouse Room 27 was a huge disappointment. Spending an unjustified amount for a shabby room with multiple basic maintenance tasks required was a huge shock. Prolific scruff marks, gouged wall, ceiling water stains, filthy windows, ants in the bath, screen door stuck open, soiled blinds, unable to be positioned hand held shower, unusable smokey oven, skirting boards damaged, wall panels split, loose power point, door seal hanging etc, all unavoidable to the eye. The worst feature was the two low slung, no head rests, two seater couches which were not at all comfortable, a very poor choice of seating as they do not accommodate folk of all ages. Overall, a much anticipated Penthouse life experience left wanting.
