Lousy response for death in the family

    rating23 May 2026

My friend had a death in the family and had to immediately fly back to the United States. We had booked a nonrefundable room presuming we would get to the hotel when we explained to Booking.com. They reached out to the hotel. I called the hotel directly. They would not give an inch unless my friend who is on her way to her brother‘s funeral could get a death certificate. What kind of a deal is this would never recommend this place for a shotty treatment Duty Manager Mantra on View, Guest Services / Front Office at Mantra on View Surfers Paradise, responded to this review Dear Carol,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your circumstances and offer our sincere condolences for your friend’s loss. We understand how distressing and urgent situations like this can be, and we are genuinely sorry that our response did not meet your expectations during such a difficult time.As a hotel, we are required to follow the conditions of the reservation type booked, and in some cases supporting documentation is needed for any discretionary review of non refundable bookings. We recognise this can feel strict, especially in sensitive situations, and we are truly sorry for the frustration and upset this caused.Your comments have been shared with our management team for further review so we can ensure our approach is as compassionate and clear as possible while still operating within booking requirements.Kind regards,Liam CampbellAssistant Manager

The price paid was well worth it.

    rating09 May 2026

There is no swimming pool and the spa is closed on Sundays.Just a heads up, you must make a booking because its privately owned. We were still satisfied with our weekend away from home. Everything was perfect for us. The room was nice and clean. The buffet breakfast was scrumptious. The location is absolutely great; so close to everything we needed to be ie: shops, restaurants and we could just walk to the beach. We'll definitely be back!! Duty Manager Mantra on View, Guest Services / Front Office at Mantra on View Surfers Paradise, responded to this review Dear Journey10930838320,Thank you for your wonderful and detailed feedback. We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your weekend away and that the overall experience felt well worth it for you.It is great to know you found your room clean and comfortable, and that you enjoyed the buffet breakfast. We are also delighted that our central location made it easy for you to access shops, restaurants, and the beach. We appreciate you noting the nearby facilities. While we do not advertise or operate a swimming pool or spa on site, we understand guests may explore options in the surrounding area and appreciate you sharing that helpful context for other travellers. We are thrilled to hear everything met your expectations and look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.Kind regards,Liam CampbellAssistant Manager

Very disappointing, tired and noisy hotel.

    rating17 Apr 2026

This hotel is not cheap to stay, and it was well below expectations. Firstly, as the photos show, the room was tired, dirty and not at all well presented. I was advised 3 days venture we were arriving that the beach club next door to the hotel is noisy, but with the balcony doors shut the noise is greatly reduced. This was a lie. The beach club (see photos) is right outside the rooms on the southern side of the building. The noise is inescapable from midday till after midnight. The bass, the music volume and the screams and cheers of patrons are all very audible through the closed doors and curtains. Had I known earlier I would never have paid to be kept awake. The room was tired, with dirty curtains, mould, patched/unpainted areas and a very strange glass panel in the bathroom that allows anyone in the lounge area to see whoever is showering!! The location is fabulous, so close to the beach, restaurants, cafes and the light rail, but for close to $800 for two nights with parking (in a public car park next to the hotel and not within the building) I am sure there are better places to stay. Our room was changed en route to the premises with a call made to me, and I assumed this would be a room further away from the beach club and the incessant noise. This was not the case. And although it was a King suite my adult son had to sleep in a roll away bed. Again I would never have accepted the change had I known it was for their room planning rather than to make it more peaceful for us. I will not stay here again, nor do I recommend it to anyone else unless the price is markedly reduced and you don’t like to rest from midday till after midnight in your own room. Duty Manager Mantra on View, Guest Services / Front Office at Mantra on View Surfers Paradise, responded to this review Dear Elspeth,Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. I am very sorry to hear that your stay was so disappointing and did not meet your expectations.I regret that you found the condition of the room to be below standard, including cleanliness and presentation concerns. This is certainly not the level we aim to provide, and your comments have been shared with our housekeeping and maintenance teams for review and follow up.I am also genuinely sorry for the disturbance caused by noise from the nearby beach club. We do aim to be transparent in advising guests prior to arrival, however I understand from your experience that this significantly impacted your ability to rest, and I appreciate how frustrating that would have been. While we always do our best to accommodate room preferences, including quieter locations, these cannot be guaranteed and I apologise that the room change did not meet your expectations or improve your comfort.Regarding the bedding configuration, I understand your concern with the rollaway arrangement. These are used in certain room types to accommodate additional guests, though I appreciate this may not have been ideal for your stay.I am, however, pleased to hear you found the location convenient, with easy access to the beach, dining options and transport.Your feedback is very important to us, and while I am sorry we were unable to provide a more enjoyable experience on this occasion, I do appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention.Kind regards,Nick Bastion - MacdonaldAssistant Manager

As a result, I refused to stay in this room and arranged alternative accommodation on Level 21 within the hotel itself,

    rating03 Apr 2026

Review of Room 1206 – Level 12, Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, QueenslandIt is important to understand that some rooms on Level 12 are privately owned apartments managed by individual owners or third-party managers rather than the hotel itself.Unfortunately, Room 1206 — which I booked — was in an appalling and unacceptable condition. The apartment had a strong, persistent foul odor, was poorly cleaned, and contained furniture visibly damaged and swollen from moisture. There were also signs of liquid leakage and staining along the walls, which raised serious concerns about hygiene and overall safety.I immediately contacted the managing representative to report these issues. While he initially promised to look into the matter the following day, once I clearly stated that it was impossible to stay in such conditions, he simply stopped responding, switched off his phone, and made no further attempt to resolve the situation.Equally disappointing was the response from Agoda.com, the booking platform facilitating this listing. Despite providing evidence and clearly outlining the severity of the situation, the platform refused to properly investigate the complaint and ultimately sided with the property manager. This experience reflects a serious lack of accountability and transparency. I strongly advise future guests to exercise extreme caution when booking privately managed apartments within this property, particularly on Level 12. Duty Manager Mantra on View, Guest Services / Front Office at Mantra on View Surfers Paradise, responded to this review Dear Eugene,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are very sorry to hear about the condition of the apartment you encountered and the difficulties faced in attempting to resolve the matter. We understand how disappointing and stressful this situation would have been, particularly when the accommodation did not meet expectations for cleanliness and comfort. As mentioned in your review, the apartment referenced is privately owned and independently managed, and is not operated by the onsite Mantra on View hotel team. While we sympathise with your experience, this review has been published under the Mantra on View hotel listing, which may unintentionally misrepresent the hotel and services managed by our team. We would encourage directing your feedback through the relevant property manager and booking platform so the concerns can be reviewed by the appropriate parties responsible for the accommodation. We do appreciate you sharing your experience and hope your alternative accommodation provided a more comfortable remainder to your stay.Kind regards,Liam CampbellAssistant Manager

Very misleading listing – hotel in poor condition and extremely noisy

    rating02 Apr 2026

I recently stayed at Mantra on View Hotel and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. The photos shown online do not reflect the current condition of the hotel. The property is very dated and clearly in need of significant renovation. While it appears that some refurbishment work may be underway, the overall state of the hotel feels tired and far below what you would expect when booking through Accor. One of the biggest issues was the noise from the nearby beach club, which was extremely loud and continued late into the night. Staff seemed very aware that this is an ongoing problem affecting guests, which made it even more surprising that this is not clearly disclosed to people when booking.Overall, the presentation of the property online feels misleading compared to the reality of the stay. Until the hotel has been fully renovated and the noise issues addressed, I would strongly recommend that travellers consider alternative accommodation. The refund process following my complaint was also delayed beyond the timeframe originally advised, which added further frustration to the experience.I hope this review helps other travellers make an informed decision. Duty Manager Mantra on View, Guest Services / Front Office at Mantra on View Surfers Paradise, responded to this review Dear Bobz,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not fully meet your expectations. We do advise guests on booking platforms about our location near Cali Beach, which can be lively at times. We understand how this may have affected your experience and truly appreciate you sharing your perspective. We also apologise for any frustration caused by delays with your accommodation refund. Our team always aims to process these as promptly as possible and we regret that this did not meet your expectations. We value your comments, as they help us continue to improve and provide clear information for future guests. Please feel welcome to contact our team directly if you would like to discuss your stay further.Kind regards,Liam CampbellAssistant Manager
