Resort is not suitable for person with disability

resort does not have a room that is powered wheelchair accessible. Simple request disable toilet and shower that has fixed fold down bench seat. Allows me to transfer safely. shower chair can move and cause an accident. not happy. suggest you ask all the right questions before booking.

    Good stay, Great location

    rating27 Jan 2025

We had 3 nights over Australia Day weekend. Initially we were put in one of the ground apartments off the main building, the room was dark and lacked privacy, the main window at the back was in full view of passers by, there were ants and a bit of a smell in the bedroom. After our first night we requested a room change and were given a beautiful new room on the 4th floor of the main building overlooking the water, (probably helped that the resort was emptying being the last day of the long weekend), the new room and the good will of Sophie at reception really made our stay from that point. Generally the resort is in a great location near the beach and 15 minute walk to the main shopping street, there was a nice heated pool (heated December to March), a small but adequate gym for a hotel, easy parking. There is a restaurant/bar in the lobby, which is good as there are not many dining options within walking distance. From want I could see, this resort is the best place in town to stay, I would stay here again.

    Week Away

Stayed 4 nights, check in was quick and friendly. We had a 1 bedroom spa apartment with a courtyard. Apartment 37.The room was spotless and perfect for us.I can't fault anything regarding our room. I do have a suggestion regarding the courtyard fence, I think it would be more private if the panels didn't have the gaps. Also it would stop the wind and hot springs visitors from seeing in, and the noise. Also a shelter so if raining you can still open the door. I would definitely recommend

    Overpriced and a touch underdone

    rating29 Jan 2024

Lady Bay Resort is well located near the Warrnambool breakwater and Lake Petrobe. Our split-level room - really an apartment - was clean and comfortable. So, what's not to like? Well - it was expensive for what it was and the check in was a bit like that scene in Mrs Doubtfire where an unsuccessful candidate is explaining what she doesn't do. They don't service the rooms, they don't do breakfast, the restaurant isn't open for lunch or dinner on Sundays or Public Holidays (so, that'd be two of our three days there, given it was the Australia Day weekend), ask at reception if you need anything but reception closes at 4pm on public holidays, etc, etc. There was also a flavour of control-freakery and treating guests as inconveniences whose behaviour needs to be strictly controlled rather than valued customers. Signs proclaim dire consequences if you park incorrectly in the car park (even though there was plenty of space). Signs in the apartments demand you wash your dishes before you leave (no - it's bad enough that you don't service the room during our stay, you can sort out the dirty cups when you're doing the clean between guests). Signs announce the pool and gym (btw the gym is a typical hotel one - one bike and a broken multi-weight machine thing) are for guests only and trespassers will be prosecuted. The guest information contains lots of rules and regulations with supposed penalties/fines for breaking them. And so on. I don't doubt that these are in part to address issues that may have arisen but it doesn't exactly make it a friendly or welcoming environment.Oh, and if you leave something behind they won't make any attempt to return it to you. There is also a boy-racer / hooning issue on the road outside late at night. We enjoyed our stay, but wouldn't necessarily rush back. Lydia Kippe, General Manager at Lady Bay Resort, responded to this review Hello Vaughan,Thank-you for posting your review. Firstly, Mrs Doubtfire is a great movie! However, we do apologise that you were not aware of our operating hours in the Restaurant on Public Holidays and Sundays - I note that your reservation was booking via Expedia and we do have an auto response message set-up detailing this information, I apologise if you did not see this.Yes, we do have Pool Rules and Regulations displayed at the entrance and in the enclosed pool area - this is a requirement by law, furthermore our Rules and Regulations are quite standard for outdoor pool facilities. We do take the responsibility of having a facility that involves health and safety quite seriously and abide by Government Rules & Regs. Yes, you are correct we do have quite a few signs re our private parking at the rear of our resort, these signs ask non-Lady Bay Resort guests not to park in the spaces, the signs are not directed at our guests. I am not sure why this would be offensive as we are only trying to have all facilities available to our paying and valued guests and yes we do have a lot of issues with non-guests parking in the spaces which have unfortunately resulted in not enough car spaces for our guests and damage to our property (right now we have damaged stainless steel to our canopy due to a contractor from a neighbouring business going over the directed speed limit and crashing their truck into our building). We only have enough spaces for all our rooms and your reservation was over the Australia Day Long Weekend whereby we were booked out for nearly two weeks for most apartments due to the Speedway event - we were booked out and there are not enough car spaces if non guests park in them.Yes, we also have signs in our kitchens in the apartments - once again this is common for self-contained apartments with this information being sent in the auto email from Expedia. Unfortunately, it is necessary that we simply (and with a smiley face emoji) ask guests to treat the apartment as their home and not to leave rubbish/food scraps/nappies etc on tables/in sinks as it is a health and safety concern for our staff. We do attempt to return lost belongings to guests - we just don't hold onto them for weeks on end and yes there are hoons in Warrnambool - the Police and Highway Patrol have been informed many times by residents of Warrnambool and our staff, unfortunately this is something we cannot control and are get just as frustrated as our guests do at times!
