    The lovely setting on the Geelong Waterfront on a beautiful autumn day was breathtaking. On arrival we were quickly seated. The young girl who served us (I cannot recall her name) was the perfect host. Her knowledge of the food & drinks we were served, including where it was sourced, her descriptions & the local small businesses they support was second to none, her attention to detail & the care for her customers was something that is sadly lacking in many areas of customer service these days & made this high tea experience extremely enjoyable.

    I was really impressed with the friendly and efficient service I received. After a very long travel day we found check in to warm, friendly and quick. We received a paper handout with all the vital information about the hotel, services etc which was very useful. The room was clean, spacious and modern with a small balcony with views to the water. We order room service, which we thought was well priced, $79 for calamari, and 2 burgers. The food arrived so quickly and was delivered with a smile, it was also piping hot and delicious. Check out was friendly and easy, we grabbed a coffee from the restaurant as we waited for our car to arrive from valet parking and the gentleman who served us was genuinely warm and friendly and looked like he enjoyed chatting to customers. Overall a quick one night stay that exceeded expectations.

    I decided to give the property another try after not staying for several years. Mistake number one. No acknowledgement of Platinum status on check in which was sloppy and slow. Had been informed of building works via text message that informed me of 'some noise between 8am and 4pm' Was given a room at rear of hotel NEXT to building works. Woken at 7am by HIDEOUS noise. Could not even hear myself think at some point. Not a good way to treat a high tier guest noting I had made this booking many months ago so should have been treated a bit better. Breakfast average, most hot dishes were almost empty and almost cold. Asked to pay extra for barista coffee which is always no charge for Platinum Accor Plus members.

    From the outset, this was less than ideal. The staff member wanted to overcharge me, despite me providing proof of the charges I had expected. The overcharge then appeared on my account. Unfortunately, due to a language barrier, communication wasn't great between this staff member and myself. I had to follow it up the following day. Still not sorted. The noise I was advised about Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:00, surprisingly also took place on Saturday morning. No warning about that. For the price, the room is basic, add too that the noise factor and staff not being fluent in English and it's not a great place to stay.

    I stayed at Novotel Geelong on a solo journey to Warrnambool! Wow loved the position, so convenient and walking distance to the whole foreshore, across the road! I was so impressed! Lots of opportunities to sit and take in the ocean view and the busy esplanade! Lots of choices for eating! Lovely walking paths! Loved the beautiful indoor carousel on the foreshore!The hotel was huge with many floors and rooms! I was warned about building of new tower before I arrived, I didnt notice noise as most of it was between 8-5 but I did hear drilling at 8am or a little before so this would have annoyed me if I wasn’t already awake?? Staff were very helpful and hotel had a good restaurant! I used the valet parking but was pricey for $50 you can park yourself for $30? Not too many options for parking?
