    An absolute gem in the Blue Mountains

    Booked at the The Carrington for UTA in May. Prior had always stayed at The Fairmont but absurd price increases there had us trying the Carrington at half the price. Frankly The Carrington easily outperforms The Fairmont on so many levels. The hotel is stunningly beautiful in a quaint way. Yes it has aged but the public areas and the rooms show no signs of tardiness or age in a way that would equal neglect. We stayed in a balcony room and it was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom is fresh and new. The public lounge was grand and with the fire on it was easy to spend time here with a tea and scones or a beer. Staff were very helpful and friendly as well. The hotel just felt so welcoming and comfortable it was a joy to stay there. An added bonus was the Old City Bank Bar and Brasserie - best meals we've had in Katoomba.

    Centrally located Hotel in the centre of town and close to railway station.Needs refurbishment but certainly has wonderful old world appeal of a bygone era.The ‘ hop on - hop off ‘ bus stop is adjacent to main hotel entrance and also a number of cafes and restaurants close by.

    This is a historic building in the heart of Katoomba. There is a lovely historic elegance about the place that is well worth the visit. Bathroom amenities have been added to most of the rooms which tend to be quite spacious with high ceilings.We had two dinners at different places in the hotel and they were very good. The buffet breakfasts were very average though.

    The whole hotel is very tired (care home vibe) and needs to be refurbished. However, the bed was very comfortable, shower worked well and staff were helpful. The breakfast included all the essentials but was basic - for example processed sliced bread instead of some nice sourdough. Katoomba is accessible to all the main Blue Mountain sites and the hotel is near the trains and buses. There is onsite parking.
