No lift which can be a struggle.

    rating19 Feb 2026

We stayed here for three nights and were on the third floor. Unfortunately, there is no lift, which made it a real struggle. I felt especially sorry for the elderly couples — although the staff kindly helped with luggage, they still had to manage the stairs themselves. The rooms were quite dusty, but the shower was excellent and had great pressure. Breakfast was very greasy, so I stuck to toast and tea. If you want coffee, you have to pay extra, though there is coffee and hot water available from a flask. That said, the staff were lovely and very helpful throughout our stay. JF Savaroc, General Manager at Harbour Rocks By Ode Hotels, responded to this review Dear Dream66725461463,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your three-night stay with us.You are absolutely right, as a heritage building, we do not have a lift, and I understand how challenging that can be, particularly when staying on the upper floors. While our team is always happy to assist with luggage, I appreciate that it doesn’t remove the physical effort of the stairs themselves. Your comments are fair, and we always encourage guests to contact us ahead of arrival if mobility is a concern so we can allocate lower-floor rooms where possible.I’m also sorry to hear that the room felt dusty. That’s certainly not the standard we aim for, and I will be following this up with our housekeeping team. I’m pleased, however, that you enjoyed the shower pressure, sometimes the small wins matter.Thank you as well for your feedback regarding breakfast. We will review both the preparation and how inclusions are communicated, particularly around barista coffee, to ensure expectations are clear. Most importantly, I truly appreciate your kind words about our staff. I’ll be sure to share your feedback with the team — it means a great deal to them.We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.Kind regards,JF SavarocGeneral Manager

    Disappointing.

    rating27 Jan 2026

The room we were given was dark and small. The shower screen had dirty streaks on it. It also had a non functioning TV. We were told it couldn’t be fixed so we were offered two free drinks by way of compensation. Later that afternoon the hairdryer blew up in my hand when I turned it on. Black soot everywhere. It fused the power points so we asked for a new room. The new room had large stains on the carpet. We paid $388 for one night including breakfast. A lot of money for a very average experience. The old building is lovely and staff were helpful and kind. Bed was comfy but the rooms really need better maintenance. JF Savaroc, General Manager at Harbour Rocks By Ode Hotels, responded to this review Dear Mary,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback.I’m genuinely sorry to hear about the number of issues you experienced during your stay, particularly regarding room condition, maintenance and the incident with the hairdryer. This is certainly not the standard we aim to provide, and I completely understand how frustrating and disappointing this would have been, especially given the rate paid.Your comments regarding cleanliness, in-room facilities and general maintenance are taken very seriously and have been shared with our housekeeping and engineering teams for immediate review and follow-up. I also regret that the initial compensation offered did not adequately reflect the inconvenience caused. That said, I do appreciate your kind comments about our staff, the comfort of the bed and the character of the heritage building. I’m pleased that the team were able to assist you during your stay, even though the overall experience fell short.Thank you again for your honest feedback. While I’m sorry that your visit was disappointing, your comments are invaluable as we continue to address maintenance standards and improve the guest experience.Kind regards,JF SavarocGeneral Manager

    Charming hotel in top location!!

    rating16 Jan 2026

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming and historic hotel!! Staff were friendly and you couldn’t get a better location. Room was clean and comfortable. We had a view of the opera house at times which was an unexpected bonus!! (View was blocked by cruise ships at times)! JF Savaroc, General Manager at Harbour Rocks By Ode Hotels, responded to this review Dear Annie,Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review and for taking the time to share your experience with us.We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the charm and history of the hotel, found the room clean and comfortable, and felt well looked after by our team. Our location is certainly something special, and it’s great to know that catching glimpses of the Sydney Opera House was an unexpected highlight, even with the occasional cruise ship passing through. We truly appreciate your kind words and support, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back again on your next visit.Kind regards,JF SavarocGeneral Manager

    Avoid this hotel

    rating22 Dec 2025

Avoid this hotel. The standard of this hotel has definitely slipped in the past two years, which was when I stayed last. Coincidentally, Ode Hotels has taken over from Accor in that time. My room (101) was not fit for purpose. It smelled damp and had mosquitoes. I had an extremely bad night’s sleep due to intermittent bursts of loud noise from either the a/c or some pump in the ceiling cavity. The carpet is very badly stained. It fails the basics of accomodation.Reading other reviews, I note many similar poor reviews reporting the same or similar issues in the same room or other rooms. The staff are polite. But it’s clear from my experience and those of many others that the management approach is to avoid fixing a deteriorating property, and placate unhappy customers with different rooms or polite apologies. That will not work for your reputation or return business. JF Savaroc, General Manager at Harbour Rocks By Ode Hotels, responded to this review Dear jmtreanor,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. I am genuinely sorry to read about your experience and appreciate you being candid about the issues you encountered. It is disappointing to hear that your room was affected by damp odours, mosquitoes, noise disturbances, and carpet condition, as these are fundamental elements of a comfortable stay and clearly fell short during your visit. I sincerely apologise for the poor night’s sleep you experienced — that is never acceptable. You are correct that some of the challenges you mention have also been raised by other guests, and your feedback reinforces the importance of addressing these matters decisively rather than relying on short-term solutions. While our team always aims to assist guests on the spot, we recognise that moving rooms or offering apologies alone is not a substitute for longer-term improvements to the property.I do appreciate your acknowledgment of the professionalism of our staff, and I regret that their efforts could not offset the condition-related issues you experienced. Your comments have been shared with ownership and senior leadership, as they directly relate to refurbishment priorities and asset standards.Thank you again for taking the time to provide this feedback. While I regret that we did not deliver the experience you expected, your comments are taken seriously and contribute to the improvements we are actively working toward.Kind regards,JF SavarocGeneral Manager

    Avoid Room 101

    rating22 Dec 2025

As a return guest I was extremely disappointed in my recent experience. Our previous stay in a Deluxe King room was very enjoyable so we upgraded to a King studio (room 101). This room is in dire need of a refurbishment. It’s hard to know where to start…unpleasant, musty smell, huge carpet stains, inadequate window covering, noisy air conditioning and a bizarre bathroom design that is a slip hazard waiting to happen. The breakfast was lovely but the wait staff need customer service training. The positives are the Reception staff, especially Maxine and the quick response from the General Manager after receiving my feedback.Unfortunately I cannot see us making a return visit when there are so many other hotels in the area to choose from. JF Savaroc, General Manager at Harbour Rocks By Ode Hotels, responded to this review Dear Navigator55489563077,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and for returning to stay with us again. I’m genuinely sorry to hear how disappointing this visit was, particularly given that your previous stay with us had been an enjoyable one.Your comments regarding Room 101 are taken very seriously. The musty odour, carpet condition, window coverings, air-conditioning noise, and bathroom layout you described are not acceptable and clearly detracted from your experience. I understand how frustrating it is to upgrade with higher expectations, only to feel let down, and I sincerely apologise for that.I appreciate your kind words about our reception team, especially Maxine, and I’m glad our response to your feedback was timely. That said, I fully acknowledge that responsiveness alone does not make up for the condition-related issues you encountered. Your feedback has been shared with ownership and senior leadership and directly informs our refurbishment priorities.Thank you also for highlighting the breakfast experience. While I’m pleased you enjoyed the food, your comments regarding service standards have been addressed with the team to ensure a more consistent level of hospitality.I regret that we did not deliver the standard you expected or deserved on this occasion, and I completely understand your hesitation about returning. Nonetheless, I appreciate your honesty and the opportunity your feedback provides to improve.Kind regards,JF SavarocGeneral Manager
