    Views are Amazing

    rating03 Apr 2026

We booked into Lilianfels so we could take our time and enjoy a couple of days in the Blue Mountains rather than doing a day trip out of Sydney. The hotel had to close for renovations and it was too late to book anything else in Katoomba so we were put up in their sister property the Hydro Majestic one town over. While not as nice as Lilianfels, management did a number of things to take care of us and ensured we had a memorable stay. Stella Marie Joseph, Owner at Lilianfels Resort & Spa, responded to this review Hello 732shamal,We truly appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay with us.We understand that your initial booking at Lilianfels was disrupted, and we're grateful for your understanding as we worked to accommodate you at the Hydro Majestic. It is incredibly rewarding to hear that, despite the change, our management team was able to take care of you and ensure you had a memorable visit to the Blue Mountains.Your appreciation for our "Amazing Views" is also much valued. We pride ourselves on the unique perspectives our location offers.Thank you again for choosing to stay with us, and we look forward to the opportunity of hosting you again.Sincerely,Lilianfels Resort & Spa Team

The main advantage with this hotel is the location. Right by the trail heads for all the blue Mountain hikes also next-door to a good restaurant, Echoes. Stella Marie Joseph, Owner at Lilianfels Resort & Spa, responded to this review Hi GlobetrottingSwede,Thank you for your valuable feedback! We're so pleased you appreciated our prime location near the Blue Mountain hike trailheads and the convenience of having Echoes restaurant next door.We hope to see you again soon!Best,Lilianfels Resort & SpaTeam

    Not worth the price

    rating29 Mar 2026

Beware, this hotel is still being renovated. It's not clear from the website but the only place open to eat is Darleys and Miss Lilians. Unfortunately whoever is responsible for redesign has completely ruined this hotel. I was expecting something homely and traditional but the colours are awful and no understanding of lighting. There is nowhere pleasant to sit and read and have a tea or coffee. This may change after renovations but for anyone booking, call them and ask, what is open? can I sit in the hotel and relax? They should not be charging the prices advertised and I would ask for a discount. Also, they only have free to air TV and no possibility of Chromecasting. The new owners have done a terrible job. The hotel manager was apologetic and did offer us credit for the disruption but this should be more widely known. Stella Marie Joseph, Owner at Lilianfels Resort & Spa, responded to this review Dear A1097JOannec,Thank you for taking the time to provide such candid and detailed feedback following your recent stay. We are deeply sorry that your experience was so profoundly disappointing and that it did not meet your expectations for a relaxing stay.We understand entirely that the presence of ongoing renovation work can be disruptive, and we regret that your impression was that the hotel's state significantly impacted your visit. For guests paying our advertised rates, an exceptional experience is paramount, and we clearly fell short in your case.We want to clarify the operational status of our facilities specifically during your stay. We strive to keep our website updated with all changes as they evolve during this period of transformation. However, it is evident from your feedback that despite these ongoing updates, the full picture of our operational status was not adequately conveyed or understood by you prior to your arrival, leading to your understandable frustration.During your stay:You are correct that The Lounge, The Orangery (for breakfast service), and our Indoor Pool were temporarily closed as part of our extensive refurbishment efforts at that time. The Day Spa was also closed for renovations and is scheduled to reopen, rebranded, around June 1st.However, we had made comprehensive alternative arrangements to ensure dining and leisure options were available. Darley's Restaurant and Miss Lilian's were fully operational, and as well as Echoes Restaurant at our sister hotel next door.We sincerely apologies if these alternative arrangements, or the overall atmosphere during this transitional phase, were not communicated effectively enough prior to your arrival, leading to a sense of limited facilities. Your feedback highlights where we must strengthen our communication on all platforms to ensure absolute clarity for our guests.Regarding your comments on the redesign, we are truly sorry that the new aesthetics did not meet your personal preferences. Our vision for this transformation is to enhance the hotel's rich heritage with a refreshed, luxurious, and functional design, including modern lighting solutions and comfortable common areas. Aesthetic preferences are subjective, and we appreciate your honest perspective on this.We note that our hotel manager was apologetic and offered you credit for the disruption. This reflects our commitment to addressing guest concerns directly when their experience falls short. Your feedback, including the point about free-to-air TV and Chromecasting, is invaluable as we continuously review and enhance our offerings. We are in the final stages of this significant project, dedicated to ensuring our cherished heritage property offers an unparalleled luxury experience. We genuinely hope that with the full completion of our refurbishment, you might consider visiting us again to experience the truly realized vision of our transformed property.Warm regards,The Team at Lilianfels Resort & Spa

    Completely let down

    rating25 Mar 2026

Booked this hotel over a year ago Four days before due to arrive we were informed it was cancelled. Very short notice - and hotel still seems to be open. Understand renovations are taking place but surely should have been offered a different room if one we booked was shut fur renovation. Very very disappointed - can see reviews over renovation period have not been good - but feel we were treated extremely badly and you let us down. Would not book with you again or recommend you for treating us so bad. Stella Marie Joseph, Owner at Lilianfels Resort & Spa, responded to this review Dear paulinetP92400D,Thank you for your candid feedback and for allowing us to clarify an important point. We understand your impression that the hotel "still seems to be open," and we appreciate you raising this, as it highlights a critical area where our communication may have fallen short. Please accept our deepest and unreserved apologies once again for the extremely short-notice cancellation of your reservation. This was not a partial closure, but a complete temporary cessation of guest operations during those specific days. We were fully closed from Monday through to Thursday last week. We understand how confusing it must have been to hear of a closure yet potentially see activity or lights on at the property. To clarify, while the hotel was closed to guests for safety and operational reasons during that period, essential staff, contractors, and management were still actively on-site. This was necessary to oversee the critical and unforeseen structural work, prepare for our re-opening, and manage the extensive renovation project that unexpectedly necessitated this full, temporary closure. This situation was truly not ideal for anyone involved – not for our business, our dedicated staff, or most importantly, our valued guests like yourself. Our decision, made at the very last minute when the critical and extensive nature of some structural work became apparent, was entirely driven by the need to prioritize safety and the comfort of all. We simply had to think of the safety and comfort of both our guests and staff, as the ongoing work on site would undoubtedly have negatively affected their experience and well-being.We did our utmost to make alternative arrangements for guests affected by the closure, and while it was undoubtedly last-minute, many guests appreciated the efforts made. However, it is painfully clear from your feedback that we failed to provide you with a satisfactory solution or adequately manage the significant disruption this caused to your specific plans. We deeply regret that this unforeseen situation led to such a negative and disappointing experience for you.We understand why you feel let down by this situation, and we are profoundly sorry for the distress and inconvenience it caused. We are truly eager to try and make amends. We would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss this further with you personally and explore how we might begin to restore your faith in our hotel. Please feel free to reach out directly to us at your earliest convenience.Sincerely,Lilianfels Resort & Team
