    Central, clean but still developing.

    I’ve not stayed here before but as Black member I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom corner suite, which was nice. However that’s sort of where the goodness ended. There has been, or is an upgrade process underway across the hotel, the rooms have been modernised to a point, but everything else feels old and worn out. The rooms feel small, there’s too much stuff in them, and you feel hemmed in. The bar and restaurant area is again old, but clean and tidy. I’m only having a grumble because I stay 40plus nights a year with the chain and this one feels like it needs some more love. Having said that, it’s clean, appears to be centrally located and is very handy to the metro line. I’m a little ho-hum on this one, but a bed is a bed and it’s clean and comfortable. I guess if you know the chain well, just understand this one is still coming up to standard.

    Bad experience at Rydges North Sydney.

    Our family stayed at the Rydges North Sydney between 28-30 December 2025. Unfortunately, we were extremely dissatisfied with the experience and will certainly not be returning again. I am only writing this review after multiple failed attempted contact with the hotel since, despite the attendant informing us upon departure that the hotel manager would call us.On the first night, our family had zero sleep due to a constant banging sound all night. As a result, we contacted reception immediately on the morning of the 29th and the attendant inspected the room and confirmed a fault in the elevator, causing the excessively loud noise. We then had to change rooms, proving highly inconvenient.We discussed this inconvenient situation with reception upon moving rooms and on the day of departure and were advised both times that there was no hotel manager on duty. In this situation, we expected a refund for at least one of the two nights, but after multiple emails and filling in contact forms on the Rydges North Sydney website… nothing. I hope this review serves as a demonstration to the lack of accountability and sheer ignorance from hotel management at this Rydges location.In addition, the car park was not secure. We informed reception that the security door next to the main roller door was broken and unable to be locked, to which we were advised that they know about that issue, it was not fixed for the duration of our stay. In fact, the reason this was concerning was that a car in the carpark had its rear window smashed in an obvious robbery. I would not recommend this hotel at all.     Excellent location just outside the city centre, but with a metro outside meaning you can be at iconic landmarks like the Opera House within 10 minutes.Friendly front of house.     People from reception are very friendly and helpful. They went beyond and above to sort out my parking issue I had with hotels underground parking. Great housekeeping and clean room.     Let down by dining options.

    The hotel is close to a Metro station at Miller & McLaren Sts and you can take either street but the longer one via Miller St is flatter.I arrived at about 230 pm and was looking for food but nothing was available and room service didn't commence for another 2 hours. There was little available nearby at that time except for an up-market restaurant. Dinner had to be ordered from the bar and choices were limited, with only one person serving drinks and the food. It wasn't busy and this may account for why the chips served with my meal were stone cold.Breakfast was better staffed and of a reasonable standard. The coffee which was included came from air pots and wasn't hot enough, though there was the option to pay more money for a fresh brew.
