Swisshotel Sydney - worth the stay

    rating17 May 2026

Stayed 3 nights in May 2026. Have stayed here before and have always likedthis hotel. The atmosphere is great and the rooms are good size, very cleanand bed is comfortable.Preventing me from giving this hotel a 5 star rating is two items - the lifts arestill being refurbished and thus there are delays from time to time and theexecutive lounge seems to be an after thought. Michelle Holdsworth, Guest Services / Front Office at Swissotel Sydney, responded to this review Dear Alanv4,Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your continued support of Swissôtel Sydney. We’re delighted to hear you continue to enjoy the atmosphere of the hotel, along with our spacious, clean rooms and comfortable beds. It’s wonderful to know we remain a hotel you enjoy returning to.That said, I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by the ongoing lift refurbishment works. We understand the delays can be frustrating and appreciate your patience while these important upgrades are completed. We are looking forward to having all lifts back in full operation in the second half of the year.We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding the Executive Lounge experience. Your comments have been noted and shared with the relevant teams as we continue reviewing and improving our guest offerings.Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback. Convenient location, good value for money

    rating07 May 2026

I have stayed in a couple of hotels in Sydney previously, and never quite found the right one for me. But this hotel is a keeper. The location is great next to the George Street pedestrian zone shopping street, it’s only a couple of minutes walk to the St James train station to the airport and the price is acceptable for that what is offered. The hotel gives a very luxurious vibe to it. The rooms are fairly spacious with nice views, and I received a nice welcome amenity as well. Sleep comfort is really good with comfortable beds. While the bathroom is spacious, the layout is a bit odd and feels space is wasted. The design of the bathroom also feels much older than the rooms (as if the rooms were recently renovated but the bathrooms were skipped - the designs just don’t match). Overall my preferred choice for a future stay in Sydney now. Michelle Holdsworth, Guest Services / Front Office at Swissotel Sydney, responded to this review Dear Gerry_W_Reisenberger,Thank you for your fantastic feedback. We’re delighted to hear that your experience with us stood out amongst your previous stays in Sydney and that we have become your preferred choice for future visits. It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed our central location, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and the overall luxurious feel of the hotel. We also appreciate your thoughtful feedback regarding the bathroom layout and design. Great hotel ruined by nightmare lifts

    rating02 May 2026

My husband and I and our adult children stayed here for an extended weekend. The location is fantastic, the cleanliness is very good and the staff are wonderful. The decor is a bit odd, but the one thing that would prevent me ever staying here again is the lift situation. You catch two lifts. One from the street level to the lobby and then a second to the floor of your room. The lifts are being renovated but we heard they still frequently break down. During our three night stay it actually became quite stressful trying to get into a lift. You waited a ridiculous amount of time for a lift, lining up when you were in the lobby. When you finally got in you stopped on most levels as the other guests tried to get in, and inevitably ended up squashed in with your nose against someone’s back. I pity anyone with a pram. The poor staff were having to take people up and down in the service lift from the back areas when it got exceptionally bad. My son and his girlfriend were supposed to be meeting us in the lobby to go out for dinner, finally in exasperation they took the fire escape stairs, they just couldn’t get into a lift. They ended up having to get out on the street level half way around d the block and then line up to catch another lift up to the lobby. It was quite stressful. There was no feeling that you could just drop bags off to your room then head out again due to the nightmare of having to line up for lifts, or not get into one at all!!!! This really needs to be fixed, you get a feeling of being trapped. It needs to be fixed. Michelle Holdsworth, Guest Services / Front Office at Swissotel Sydney, responded to this review Dear 137celial,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed our fantastic location, cleanliness, and the wonderful service provided by our team. However, we are truly sorry to learn of the significant frustration caused by the lift situation during your stay. We completely understand how stressful and inconvenient this would have been for you and your family, particularly when trying to move around the hotel and enjoy your time together. Please note that our lifts are currently undergoing refurbishment works, with upgraded lifts being progressively returned to service soon. We sincerely apologise for the disruption during this improvement period and appreciate your patience and understanding. We also appreciate your recognition of our team members who did their best to assist throughout these challenges. Your comments have been shared with management as we continue working to enhance the guest experience.Thank you again for your honest feedback. We regret that this issue overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable stay.Regards,Michelle HoldsworthFront Office Manager
