Situated in the middle of Chinatown and close to Darling Harbour, this city hotel is surrounded by the theatre and entertainment districts, city attractions and restaurants. The hotel has 93 rooms, including 90 double rooms, which are located on 3 storeys and are reachable by lift. Guests are warmly welcomed by multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a drinks machine. Wireless internet access (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. Would not stay there again. Rooms were very noisy as every night all through the nights trucks would come down the laneway all night. Some were garbage trucks with lights flashing and making lots of noise. As we were staying in Chinatown near the restaurants they would get there deliveries in the middle of the night and the workers would talk at the top of their voices and lights flashing. Also outside my room was the loading zone which operates 24 hours so for a week I got no sleepThe other major issue in the room was to get to the bedroom there was a step and to get into the bathroom there was another step. Very dangerous. You need to put up a warning sign about the steps as my friend and I nearly tipped over

Great location for my purpose of an overnight stay within very easy walking distance from central station (easy access to airport) and TikTok Entertainment Centre. I had a family room on level 1; would be a great size for a family, although the size of the fridge would be a hindrance. Great double glazing to block street noise, but unfortunately you hear all movement from above and beside rooms, and the renovation in lobby meant no lie in. Renovation isn’t quality sadly. Quick check in and out , and a decent lift which you often don’t see in smaller hotels. Bed was excellent.

Unfortunately after making the booking through an external provider, we received a notification that the lift is out of service (this was also the case last visit back in March 2025) and told it would be fixed back then. Our room was placed on the second story floor making access tricky with young family. In comparison for price around the area for the same amount or a fraction more, I would have opted to stay elsewhere, had I of known parking is not inside, no pool facilities, lift out or service and a family room with only beds and a two seater table to watch tv with the family. Was very clean, but expensive for alternative 5 star hotels close by. Basia Miska, General Manager at The Ultimo, responded to this review Hi Matt, I'm sorry to hear you didn't feel like you got full value during your stay.As mentioned in our mail out when you made the reservation, the lift has not been broken but was required to be temporarily decommissioned as part of our expansion project and is returning to service on the last day of October. Just to clear any confusion regarding us neglecting to fix a broken lift as implied.Our property has never advertised pool facilities and is very transparent that our parking is off-site but you may have been aware of this from your previous stay in March. Superb location conveniently located near attractions and amenities in Chinatown and Darling Harbor. Friendly and helpful staff.Hotel is undergoing renovation so lift doesn’t work. But staff are helpful to carry luggage from the room to the lobby. Request for a room that faces the smaller lane instead of the main road for a quieter stay.

Would t return. Stayed 4 nights but room smelt like mould. Staff (when you can find them) are dismissive. Would have liked to know lift was out of order before arriving. Also don’t use the laundromat in hotel. Machines say $4 but you have to buy a token and they charge $6 for a token. Machines also ruined all our clothes with grease stains. Reported issues multiple times but staff were quick to hide in rooms near desk instead of helping.
