  Surprised (pleasantly) by the size of the apartment allocated

  Stayed here for two x 2 nights in February 2026. I was aware of the building renovations so I was not surprised that the balcony was out of commission and I would almost certainly not have used the pool even if it was available.The location is great, a short walk from Wynyard Station and close enough to walk to the Harbour area (or one stop on the metro to circular quay). I was on the 19th floor for the first stay and the 20th for the latter. Not much of a view as it is surrounded by equally tall buildings.As I was travelling solo, I only booked a basic studio apartment, but I was placed in a MASSIVE apartment for the first visit and one that was only marginally smaller for the second.All the staff I met were professional and friendly and were quickly able to give any advice that I needed. Really enjoyed my stays, wish I could have stayed longer.   Awesome Stay at The York by Swiss-Belhotel

  My husband and I along with our friends stayed at The York by Swiss-Belhotel for 4nts from Mar. 05-09 and had a great stay.We stayed in a 2bedroom Swisssuper apartment which was very clean and proportioned nicely. With 2 couples sharing there was ample space and plenty of room. The staff were very friendly and efficient.The location was excellent. An easy 15min walk to Circular Quay and The Rocks, with easy Hop on Hop off access and local trams and close to many restaurants with plenty of Happy Hours between 4-6pm. Our faviorite was Jackson on George located on George Street. Good food & drinks and great vibe.For anyone looking for an apartment style rental in Sydney, I would definitely recommend staying at The York by Swiss-Belhotel.   Do not stay in the “penthouse”

  We booked a “penthouse” apartment a year ago and when we arrived they told us there was renovations being done and they were going to upgrade us!! (To the penthouse ha) we had no access to our balconies and the rooms are very dated and not 100% clean. Our bedroom did not have a block out curtain and when we notified them they said it had been ordered but no offer to rectify. The other bathroom didn’t lock so my 4 teenage children had to come up with a plan when they were in there. We weren’t getting listened to and were offered discounts which we are yet to see. Nowhere near worth the $1000 a night we paid. This information was provided prior to arrival so guests could make an informed decision before their stay. For safety reasons, one section of the balcony was temporarily locked during this period; however, the penthouse still had balcony access available from the other two sides of the apartment.We also regret any inconvenience caused by the curtain and bathroom lock. Our team arranged for the replacement curtain to be ordered as soon as it was reported, and we apologise that it was not yet installed during your stay.   I stayed at this venue last year and the fact I have rebooked it for this year speaks volumes about what I thought about it. We began every day with a swim and a session in the sauna before going back to our apartment to prepare for the day ahead.This year however we are leaving tomorrow for another 2 week break in Sydney but have only found out by chance that the swimming pool and sauna are closed for the whole of our stay and the hotel hasn’t even contacted my travel company to notify them.Up to this point I was excited for our much anticipated break, but this news has totally taken the edge off my mindset and I now wish I weren’t going!   We only stayed a couple of nights and wouldn’t have wanted any longerCons - Rooms are very dated and tired not 💯 about cleanliness Balcony doors locked - glad there was no fire Air con the second night kept making strange noises which kept us awake so had to switch it off so broken sleep as it was too hot, reported it next day Pros- great location we had a trip booked on our first day and the pickup spot was right outside Easy 10 min walk to Opera house, circular Quay area Great Japanese restaurant right outside very reasonable prices and dominoes over the road Shower was fine and facilities to wash clothes including detergent so was great to have a quick clothes freshen up Breakfast was at a hotel 2mins down the road which was excellent All in all ok for a couple of nights just don’t expect too much Front Office Manager TYSB, Guest Services / Front Office at The York by Swiss-Belhotel, responded to this review Dear Lizzyc,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
