Great stay, look no further for a luxury romantic getaway.

Amazing hotel, look no further for your cradleMountain stay. The staff are really friendly and the location is amazing just down the road from the start of cradle mountain national park.2 restaurants on site both serving good food, and the rooms are great. Laundry facilities are good as well, and ample seating areas to relax in front of the fire.

A one night’s experience but a very outdated hotel.

A very dated Hotel evident by the fittings in the rooms. We were given a wheelchair friendly room which we did not need. It was very dated and not nice. The dining room was good with quality food but quite pricey. Not many walking areas outside the hotel.

A great cosy place to stay with the family.

A lovely place to stay. Nice and cosy areas with the fireplace on. Staff were excellent. Highly recommend Adam Barnett, General Manager at Cradle Mountain Hotel, responded to this review Hi Sunshine,Thank you so much for the recommendation! I am glad you and the family had such a great time with us.There is nothing quite like grabbing a spot by the fireplace when it is on—it really is the heart of the hotel during a mountain getaway. I will be sure to pass your kind words along to our staff; they work hard to make every family feel welcome, and they will be stoked to hear they hit the mark.We hope to see you and the family back at Jackeys Marsh or up here on the mountain again soon!Warm regards,Adam BarnettGeneral Manager

    Cradle Mountain Accommodation

    rating08 Apr 2026

A wonderful place to stay. Easy access to National Park.Only thing we didn’t like was surcharge on credit card Adam Barnett, General Manager at Cradle Mountain Hotel, responded to this review Dear Penelope,Thank you for your review! I am so glad you had a wonderful stay and found our location convenient for accessing the National Park.I appreciate your feedback regarding the credit card surcharge. I understand that these additional fees can be a frustration. We do our best to keep our costs transparent, and your comments are helpful as we continually review our guest experience and payment policies. It was a pleasure having you visit us from Rangiora, and we hope to welcome you back to the mountain again in the future.Warm regards,Adam BarnettGeneral Manager

Good location for going to cradle mountain national park

    rating05 Apr 2026

The staff were great. Unfortunately the two beds in our room were soft and uncomfortable. The bathroom is basic and dated. Tour groups stay here. There were 2 with over 40 in each group. As the walls are thin you hear everything including being woken early as well as being chatty with others late at night. Hotel isn’t responsible for this, but it’s something to be aware of. Adam Barnett, General Manager at Cradle Mountain Hotel, responded to this review Dear smithnz,Thank you for your review and for your kind words regarding our staff. I am glad their service stood out during your visit from Christchurch.I am very sorry to hear that the beds in your room were uncomfortable and that noise from nearby tour groups impacted your sleep. While we love welcoming groups to the mountain, we understand how frustrating it is to have your rest disturbed by thin walls and communal chatter. We always encourage guests to let our reception team know if they are experiencing noise issues so we can assist in the moment, but your feedback is a valuable reminder for us to manage group placements as thoughtfully as possible.Regarding the bathroom, I appreciate your honesty. We are currently working through a refurbishment program, with 15 rooms updated in August 2025 and plans to refresh our standard rooms in the coming years to move away from those more dated features. We hope that if you return to the area, we can provide you with a much more restful and modern experience.Warm regards,Adam BarnettGeneral Manager
