    Overpriced scam

    rating26 Dec 2025

I was going to give it 2 stars, but this breakfast killed my generosity. So. Over. Priced. For this kind of money I would expect… something?Let’s start with the location. Gorgeous. Amazing. Nothing to do with the lodge. The room is soulless. Cheap bed, cheap furniture, cheap towels. The amenities aren’t cheap because there are none. There is zero character. I’ve stayed in better motels. For this price. The food. God. Where to start? Best not in fact. Disgusting stuff I’d expect at a backpacker hostel. Nothing wrong with a hostel if you’re paying a tenth of the price but when it’s 500+$ I expect, you know, not this. The dinner was hyper-expensive and tasteless. Was it food? Couldn’t sleep because I was both hungry (couldn’t eat it) and full from the cardboard of ingested (even if just a bit). The breakfast was HORRIFIC. No silverware, no fruit. Everything ran out. The eggs were pretty good but ran out. Even the table hadn’t been wiped. This wasn’t a buffet, it was a bit of food-like stuff. Save yourselves and your money. This is a scam.

    Eat elsewhere

    rating27 Nov 2025

Both dinner and breakfast were very poor, left most food on the plates. Most food seemed pre prepared some time ago and served oils and nearly cold. Expensive. Food at the nearby Derwent Bridge roadhouse was superior and worth the short drive. Desperately needs a new chef and manager. Accomodation average. Location superb.

    Ants in their beds

    rating15 Oct 2025

I was travelling the area and decided to treat myself to a stay in one of the lodges cabins. I arrived in the evening and after unpacking I found there were ants in the bed. After taking apart and checking the sheets I reported it to the night manager and while they offered to change my room they also said I could discuss a discount with the day manager in the morning. Since I had already unpacked and had checked the bed, I chose to leave it until the morning. The next morning , I found a couple of more ants and realised there were a number of spider webs about the room. I informed the day manager who said there was nothing I could do and should have just changed rooms. I reached also reached out to the lodge management and haven't heard back. While I dont care too much about ants and spiders, I did expect better quality for the premium price tag. Breakfast was delicious though.
