Good mostly where it needs to be. Could offer more to the traveller with a bit of planing.

Is this a good hotel? Sure. Facilities are modern, the building is clean and tidy and the service is good. It is..... at best, a quality beige experience. Nothing bad, nothing amazing, everything as good as it should be. You can't do wrong with this hotel. Considering its location though there's a few things that would make it better. Planning with parking would be good, as like many others I drove here straight after getting off the ferry. Got an EV? This would be a perfect location to have a charging capacity at your hotel - something that there's increasingly more of in the state. The staff are friendly and accomodating, and the facilities are excellent. It's telling however that I didn't take any photos of my stay as I usually do. It didn't so much feel like a hotel as much as a nice liminal space. , Owner at Mantra Charles Hotel Launceston, responded to this review Thank you very much for staying with us and for providing your feedback.I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay, and appreciate the feedback regarding EV charging -- this is certainly something under consideration. We hope to welcome you again soon.Kind regards,Dougal McConnellGeneral Managerdougal.mcconnell@mantra.com.au

Good clean room and ensuite, private and quiet, small balcony. King bed was comfy, everything worked, checkin easy. Carparking a bonus. Walk to pubs etc. , Owner at Mantra Charles Hotel Launceston, responded to this review Thanks for your comments Pete, and we hope to welcome you again soon.Kind regards,Dougal McConnellGeneral Manager

    Great staff and room

    rating03 Apr 2026

In terms of the room itself and the service at the Mantra Charles Hotel, I couldn’t fault either of them. The room was immaculately clean and well equipped with the following:- Comfortable bed that hit the sweet spot between being a marshmallow and rock hard - Cupboard with sufficient space for clothing plus a luggage rack- Kitchenette with a hot plate, microwave and sink; having a separate sink in the main room of the motel is very rare. I loved it and not having to use the same sink I use to wash my hands after the toilet to wash my dishes- Pleasantly hot showerThe staff were also great, especially the assistant manager. Case in point: I needed to do some laundry and realised I didn’t have change or even any cash to swap for change. The assistant manager was able to simply charge some change to my room and I was able to settle the bill at check out instead of having to waste time looking for out a supermarket or ATM. I really appreciated this. One thing I wasn’t impressed with, though, was the parking situation. I estimate there were less than 20 spots for the entire motel. The motel itself is located behind Launceston General Hospital (yes, handy if you have an emergency) and shared the same building as DVA and a few other companies. You had to look really carefully at the reserved signs or risk being fined and/or towed away. Street parking was a bit of a walk to the front door; not conducive if you have a lot of luggage and given how steep the hill is, I wouldn’t want to try lugging a luggage cart from the car to the motel.I also wasn’t that keen on the dining options. The first night, I ordered a steak sandwich by room service which was great. The breakfast options, however, were very pricey and too heavy first thing in the morning. There weren’t any options to purchase basic breakfast packs (eg. Bread to toast, juice, mini packs of cereal, etc) or even a continental breakfast option whether dine in or room service. Lucky for me there was a McDonalds down the hill and a little cafe called Aroma Cafe about 100 m away.I would also like to see them modernise the laundry. There was only one washing machine and dryer there and they looked to be close to 40 years old. Both coin operated if you’ll see my comments above. Even washing powder had to be purchased through a coin operated slot machine. In a society where fewer people are carrying cash and/or coins, it’s a pain in the backside not having the option to pay by card. Plenty pf laundromats are doing this nowadays. It’s time for Mantra Charles Hotel to follow their lead and modernise. , Owner at Mantra Charles Hotel Launceston, responded to this review Thank you for providing such a detailed review of your stay with us. Exceptional service

    rating21 Mar 2026

I would like to single out a particular staff member on the front desk who gave us exceptional service. His name is Khurram Awais and he went above and beyond to help us with a booking problem which was not an issue caused by the Mantra Hotel. , Owner at Mantra Charles Hotel Launceston, responded to this review Hi Chris,Thanks for mentioning Khurram specifically, and I am very pleased that his service impressed. We hope to welcome you again soon.Kind regards,Dougal McConnellGeneral Manager

    Loved it!

    rating28 Feb 2026

What can I say! I loved being in that hotel. I was on level 1 and honestly I loved my room. Bed was nice, the bathroom clean and the kitchen was beautiful and cozy. Tv was nice with free Wi-Fi and YouTube. Customer service was very good. They welcomed me with warm smiles and handled everything in a professional manner. Restaurant - I had breakfast included and I also loved that. The wait staff were so kind and made me feel at home. "Charli breakfast" was my favorite on the menu and they will make you a coffee. The staff really wanted to serve you and I felt that.Overall i loved this hotel and when i am back in Launceston it will be my go to. Note it is a bit far from Coles and Woolworths but the street leads you all the way to the city center. If you love walking (mind the hill) this hotel is good place to exercise. , Owner at Mantra Charles Hotel Launceston, responded to this review Thank you very much for staying with us and for taking the time to provide such a detailed review.
