    Central Launceston Accommodation

    rating02 Nov 2024

Had stayed at Grand Hotel Launceston pre covid, really enjoyed the venue - close to City Park and within walking distance to CBD and with an excellent restaurant. We had booked a Deluxe Queen room that sleeps 3. At time of booking only my wife & I planned to stay. We stayed 2 nights, only coming into Launceston at night to sleep. At the last minute our grand daughter (Age 11) travelled with us on a family visitation. As our Accommodation stated sleeps 3, we decided to advise hotel when checking in. On check in we were informed that our room consisted of a Queen bed only, sleeps 2. They promptly arranged for a fold up bed at an additional cost of $50.The room was comfortable and clean. Bed was comfortable however pillows were lumpy solid ones, not pleasant. Hotel web site indicated Restaurant. We understand that restaurant is operated separately from hotel, open only Tues to Sat. Friday evening meal was nice but expensive, for example a bottle of sparkling water was $11, and ice cream served with dessert was $5 per scoop extra. We also learnt that breakfast was not available in restaurant and we needed to leave hotel for this. After searching immediate locations to no avail we drove to Kings Meadows for breakfast on both days and also for sat evening meal.Accommodation booking advised towels would be changed every 2 days - we can live with that. It also stated housekeeping. When returning to our room for second night, no housekeeping had been undertaken- bit ordinary.Overall stay was pleasant but a real contrast to an earlier stay. Staff were polite and obliging. Will check out more venues for next trip to Launceston.

    Well modernised old hotel

    rating17 Sept 2024

I stayed here two nights on a short trip to Tasmania. It's a lovely old property that's been well modernised. The rooms and common areas are comfortable and well maintained. Facilities in the rooms are modern - airconditioning, bathrooms etc while still retaining the heritage features. Very short walk to the town centre.

    rating07 Sept 2024

Stayed last night with our family, absolutely loved the big room for 4 adults and baby. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Clean and tidy. Comfortable beds and pillow. Would definitely stay again. Bathroom was very clean, shower was spacious.

    Disappointing

    rating18 Aug 2024

Sadly,a disappointment. The rooms looked very modern and stylish online and the reviews were amazing,so I took a gamble ,paying over $600 for a 2 night stay.We were boarded in the annex ,across the yard in a barn of a room with 2 double beds plus a single bed ?? It didn't have the wow factor we had been expecting . It was clean and and most things worked except the fan in the bathroom, but overall the place looks tired. The carpet on the stairs up to the room was badly frayed and torn.We wanted help and information from the reception desk but it is only attended between the hours of 9.00 -2.00.The whole place looks tired and not up to it's star rating or price rates .We've stayed in much cheaper hotels in Launceston with better ambience , customer service ,and comfort at a lower price.I wondered if the other rooms were better or the amazing reviews online were fictitious ?

    Terrible Experience

    rating03 Aug 2024

My husband and I stayed at the (NOT) Grand Hotel on the 12th July and have been trying to deal with our experience since then with no outcome. Our room was broken into and about $800 worth of our property was taken. We filed a police report but with no surveillance cameras the hotel management say there is nothing they can do. We have been offered no compensation and have been accused of lying about the incident. The security door downstairs cannot be locked allowing access by anyone at any time which is terrible. We are at a complete loss as to how we have been treated...
