    Incredibly disappointing.. will not recommend

We have booked the ‘best’ suiteOn offer for a milestone family birthday event that we traveled from rural SEQ to attend .. Air con that won’t go below 25.5C and a room that didn’t meet our expectations After speaking with the staff we were moved from 1906 to 1907- a comparable room with the offer of free breakfast for the 3 nights we will be here to make up for the issue.. sadly , while the staff did the best they could, the alternative room, while cooler is still ‘inferior’ for what we thought we were paying for via Qantas Hotel bookings.Curtains that won’t close .Single glazed windows that are west facing and scorching to touch.Atmosphere is lacking - all top lights , no lamps or soft furnishings -It’s cold and stark .. the TV is too small to watch from the couch ( smaller than room 1906) and overall very disappointing ..Partner has stayed here before and suggested the Grand Chancellor when my preferred hotel wasn’t avail. Will not recommend or stay here again.

    Over all observation

We were disappointed with our stay at this so-called 4-star hotel.1. The room lighting was poor, with no dim or relaxing option available. It felt uncomfortable, especially in the evenings.2. The toilet had a bad smell, likely coming from the drain pipes, which made the bathroom unpleasant to use.3. For a 4-star hotel, I was surprised there was no espresso machine or even bottled water in the fridge—the fridge was completely empty.4. No complimentary slippers were provided, which is a basic amenity in most hotels of this level.5. No secure hotel parking is available, guests are left to park along the streets at their own risk.Overall, the experience fell short of expectations for a 4-star property. There are better options elsewhere that provide more comfort, convenience, and value.

    Caveat Emptor

    rating25 Jul 2025

Means let the buyer beware.I stayed at this hotel chain in Hobart and was blown away how good it was.Certainly can’t say the same about this place. It’s like no one who works here cares about anyone or anything. The positives are the bed was comfortable but the pillows were so soft that I felt like I was drowning in them. The bathroom was spacious and clean but the toilet seat was broken. We stayed in an executive room. The lounge was uncomfortable due to no support (you sunk into it).The biggest issue was the air conditioning. It was stuck on heat mode and no matter how much playing with it, nothing changed that setting. We approached reception twice over consecutive days but nothing (as I said, no one cares).Breakfast was hit n miss, a few staples like bacon ?which was too salty and just not nice to eat), the eggs were ok but the toaster had to be cooked 3-4 times to get any colour though there were a few types of bread to choose from and the sourdough was nice. Fruit was not ripe and tasteless and the coffee machine (only one) produced flavourless coffee. Can’t wait to go home.
