    NOT a non-smoking hotel

    rating28 Apr 2026

The rooms are nice. My only gripe is that smoking is permitted on the balconies (ashtrays provided) which rendered my balcony unusable unless I wanted to breathe in the second hand smoke from my neighbours. Also, I had to keep my doors closed to avoid my room stinking of it. Really not good enough.

Great short stay and restaurant with gluten-free options

    rating18 Feb 2026

Before I even arrived, the reception team were incredibly helpful, answering my questions about the menu as best they could, which gave me confidence ahead of my stay. On check‑in, I was pleasantly surprised by a spacious room with a newly renovated bathroom and a lovely view over the pool, everything I needed for a comfortable short work trip.As a reactive coeliac who also avoids dairy, I was genuinely impressed by how seriously the restaurant staff took my dietary needs. Although some gluten‑free items are marked on the menu, the team didn’t rely on labels; they checked with the kitchen, confirmed ingredients, and double‑verified each meal to ensure it was safe. Their understanding of cross‑contamination risks made dining there feel stress‑free. On my first night, I had the grilled barra burger without cheese, which was absolutely delicious. The second night, I opted for a plain steak with vegetables, as the chips weren’t suitable (no separate fryer), the mash contained dairy, and none of the sauces were both gluten‑ and dairy‑free. The steak was cooked well, though it would’ve been even better with a condiment and a side option that was safe (jacket potato and perhaps a basic steak sauce).Despite limited choices, the staff’s care and diligence really stood out both at reception and in the restaurant. I left feeling well looked after and would happily stay again.

Lovely hotel on the waterfront in a beautiful town. Atmosphere is fresh, modern and breezy. Great dinner plus cocktail. This place was buzzing.

    Comfortable and very good value

Stayed for just two nights in this lovely town. The hotel was extremely good value for money. Centrally located, a good swimming pool and a friendly and helpful welcome on arrival. We didn’t eat at the hotel but looked at the menu which had a good variety on offer.

    Classic restaurant in town centre

    rating23 Mar 2025

Ate at the upstairs restaurant for nostalgic reasons. Nice view of the historic town and the bay. Had oysters and prawns which were fresh and prepared well. Chips could have been better (why not double fried?). Service friendly and efficient.
