    1 night stay in Wien

    rating16 Dec 2025

Stayed one night while visiting the Christmas markets. The hotel is definitely overpriced for what it offers. The location is good — within walking distance of two metro lines and with easy access to the airport train, which is convenient. The room was clean and reasonably spacious. However, it was surprising that there was no complimentary water at all, only a minibar with overpriced items, which felt disappointing for a hotel in this category.Check-in was not very welcoming. The receptionist held my passport for quite a long time and asked unnecessary questions, such as in which city my passport was issued. The interaction felt very formal and lacked basic hospitality. On the positive side, there is a very good café nearby for breakfast, which was actually one of the highlights of the stay.Overall, an average experience mainly justified by the location, but the service and value for money could be improved. Team IMLAUER, General Manager at Hotel Imlauer Wien, responded to this review Dear Mr. Skrypnyk,Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us and for choosing to stay with us during your visit to the Christmas markets. We are pleased to read that you appreciated our convenient location near two metro lines and the airport connection, and that you found your room clean and reasonably spacious. We also value your note about the nearby café.We regret that you felt the stay did not offer the value you expected. As Vienna’s tap water is of excellent quality and perfectly safe to drink, we do not provide complimentary bottled water in our rooms. The prices in our minibar are in line with the usual Vienna standards for a 4-star hotel. We understand this may not have met your preference and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. We are very sorry if you felt that the check-in process took longer than expected. However, the information requested during check-in is required by law and must be collected in accordance with the Vienna registration regulations. It is our aim to conduct this process with courtesy and efficiency, and your remarks on the tone of the interaction are noted. In summary, we are glad the location and room condition suited your plans, and we have taken careful note of your comments on service impression and perceived value. Thank you for offering a balanced perspective. With kind regards,Gerald Wlcek – General Manager Hotel IMLAUER & Nestroy Vienna

    nice hotel. would recommend

    rating15 Dec 2025

perfect location (2 blocks frkm sound of music tour, Mirabelle Palace? and 10 minite walk across the river to Old Town. nice room, spacious and clean. tiny shower which despite the good water pressure need to be way bigger. only complaint is that the front desk people were not helpful to get us in to the sky bar for dinner and only got us into the very average pitter celler after a second call down. the place was half empty so we felt like they just didnt want to be bothered. other than that a good place.

We stayed for 2 nights in August. We stayed in a suite with balcony and it was unreal. Room was massive and friends got the suite next door. Very nice and clean and all staff polite and helpful. We would recommend and stay again.

It was my second time at the Imlauer Hotel and I’m so happy to say that everything was amazing. Again!First of all, huge thanks to the staff at the reception and buffet/bar! Everyone was very helpful, friendly, and polite. Much appreciated! The room was very clean and bright. I felt really comfortable there. As for the breakfast, it was excellent — always fresh, nutritious, and varied. Special thanks for the gluten-free bread! They bake it themselves every morning, and it’s absolutely delicious.I’d also like to highlight the hotel’s convenient location. You can easily reach it from the airport by train+subway and all the major landmarks are within walking distanceOverall, everything was fantastic!I’m sure that when I’m back in Vienna, I’ll stay at Imlauer again! The good things about this hotel: the room was clean and quiet, and the air con worked well. This was much appreciated as Vienna was sweltering. The not so good things: BA had left my luggage at Heathrow, but I wasn't offered any basic amenities, like toothpaste, to tide me over until my bag arrived. Reception told me to email my luggage details to them so that they had a record of it, but all my emails bounced back as the hotel's system identified them as spam. I got my bag, but it was annoying that I couldn't email the hotel. The shower situation was a bit of a saga. I could only get scalding hot water. I tried calling down to reception, but there was no answer, so I had to go down there in my PJs. The man at the desk assured me someone would be up shortly to take a look. I waited 15 minutes, but no one came. I was meeting someone and was in a hurry.I tried calling Reception again. Still no answer. I tried again. This time it was answered by a confused-sounding man who couldn't understand what I was talking about. It turned out that the "Reception" button on the phone was actually going through to the room next door and I'd woken up my poor neighbour who had no idea why there was a stroppy English woman asking him when her shower was going to be fixed. Back downstairs I went, and this time someone from maintenance came up with me. After some investigation he told me that the blue was hot and the red was cold, which I thought was strange because I'd tried both extremes to no avail. Anyway, it was working now, so I showered and dressed, and went about my day. The next morning I had the same problem with the shower and the scalding hot water. I discovered that it needs to run for about 10 minutes before the cold kicks in. After this ordeal, I was worried something else would go wrong because I was starting to feel like Mrs Richards from Fawlty Towers. The hairdryer has more launch stages than a Saturn V rocket. The blue button that looks like a "cool air" button is actually the "on" button. I was tired and stressed and it took me a while to figure that out.Like many hotels on the continent, this is a small towels hotel.Breakfast is very expensive. There are some nice cafes nearby that do better food for less. Team IMLAUER, General Manager at Hotel Imlauer Wien, responded to this review Dear H M,We are very sorry to hear about the challenges you experienced during your stay at our hotel. While we are glad to know that you appreciated our clean, quiet rooms and functioning air conditioning, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience with the amenities and the hotel's email system. Moreover, we regret the confusion regarding the shower's water temperature and the inconvenience this caused you. We also apologize for the confusion with the reception button on the phone, and the difficulty you experienced with our hairdryer.Your feedback is invaluable to us and we appreciate you taking the time to share your detailed experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Hotel IMLAUER Wien and provide you with a more enjoyable stay in the future.Sincerely,Gerald Wlcek – General ManagerHotel IMLAUER & Nestroy Vienna
