Stressful Experience Instead of a Vacation

    rating25 May 2026

The beach was disappointing — full of rocks and sargassum seaweed, making it far from relaxing. The hotel itself is old and poorly maintained, with outdated facilities.During the last week of May, the hotel hosted a large group of teenagers who completely ruined the peaceful atmosphere. There was loud music on the beach late at night and into the early morning, making it impossible to rest properly. The drinks were extremely watered down and barely tasted like alcohol. Another frustrating issue was that the pool and beach chairs were constantly “reserved” with towels for hours without anyone actually using them, which reflects very poor guest behavior and lack of hotel control. The only positive aspect was that the hotel staff were kind and polite.Overall, I would not recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation.

    First time at a resort

    rating25 May 2026

This was my first experience at a resort. I was pleasantly surprised. The animation team works so hard to make sure everyone has a fantastic time. Rita is an amazing performer who gives everything each time she sings. The buffet staff was always so kind and helpful. Letecha told me all about cultural teas and traditions. Even the grounds crew and I had fun cracking jokes with one another. The vibe is so warm and welcoming! I can’t really speak to price comparisons, but I feel like the value provided matched the price. The food was good and included lots of variety. The rooms were fine. I’m very aware that they are slowly recovering from severe hurricane damage a few years ago. I honestly spent so little time in the room that it didn’t matter if it was immaculate. It was sufficient. It was amazing week! I really can’t complain.

    Wonderful Mother-Daughter Vacation in Paradise

    rating24 May 2026

*will be adding photos at a later dateHello! I just recently returned from a week away May 16-23 2026 with my 20 year old daughter and we had a FANTASTIC time. I gave this resort a 5 STAR rating as that is the experience we had overall. In saying that, you cannot expect "5 star" everything about this resort and should keep your expectations as such. Currently I believe it is rated as a 3.5 star and does meet those criteria but exceeds in MANY, MANY ways. First of all, LOCATION: 15 minutes from the airport on a gorgeous, gorgeous beach. You can walk to Banana Bay to the left in about 25-30 minutes by beach. In the other direction about a 5 minute walk, there is another restaurant (sorry, cannot remember the name right now) and you can also swim with the pigs at that locations as well. ROOMS: perfectly fine. The rooms themselves are quite spacious and ours was absolutely spotless. Yes, bathrooms are a bit small but you only need the bathroom for 2 things... using the toilet and showering so i don't see why some people have issues with this. Our shower worked great. Some people have mentioned that the shower flooded the bathroom... well, if you don't adjust your shower head accordingly then I could see how this could happen BUT.... the shower head IS adjustable and common sense would tell you not to face it shooting at the opposite wall. If you have it facing downwards you will have zero issues. Water temperature was great as well as pressure. They hotel provides hand soap at the sink and body wash and shampoo in the shower. Air Conditioning worked perfectly and we slept like babies every night. We were in a garden view room (yellow building 3) located near the gym. STAFF/ENTERTAINMENT: Outstanding. Besides the beauty of the resort and area, it's the staff that truly made us want to return. The animation team is amazing and super hard working. We interacted with several of them but I apologize as I only remember a couple of names off the top of my head. Rita of course is multi-talented and is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. SUPER good at her job and has an amazing voice as well. This girl works her butt off. Calil was also wonderful and even sat with us for lunch one day. It was a pleasure getting to know him. As for the rest, all amazing people and all have fantastic talent. You certainly will not get bored here and if you do, that's on you! hahah. Activities around the pool start at 10 a.m with yoga, then there's usually some sort of game like darts or Bocce. This is typically followed by water aerobics and then dancing lessons. Some days there are themes (Canada Day and Bahamas Day) in which additional activities take place in the afternoon like drinking competitions, conch salad making, foam parties, food service etc. They truly go above and beyond in this category. And of course, the nightly shows that start at 9:30. I believe the only night they do not have a show is Wednesdays and on this day they have karaoke instead. Bar Staff: Very friendly, some more so than others but I'd say 95% are always smiling and engaging with customers. Frederico, Sonia and Ziah were super friendly at the main bar. There were others just as equally as wonderful but I apologize.. I am so, so sorry that I didn't get everyone's name! Reception: I didn't have the greatest experience overall with reception at check in or overall but this, I have to say it is understandable given the circumstances of what goes on at the resort on Saturdays.... Saturdays, for lack of better terms are a zoo. You have two full flights checking in and it's complete chaos. This, I have to say was the only true negative but it's really nothing that the resort can do much about. What needs to happen is the FLIGHT COMPANIES need to change the dates of these flights. Rather than the Ontario flight and the Quebec flight coming in on the same day they could have one coming on a Saturday and one on a Sunday instead. This I think would help immensely. Reception truly is put in a horrible position by having to deal with this which is understandable why the demeanor might not be as pleasant as expected. Unfortunately, unless the flights situation changes, Saturdays will likely continue to be a nightmare at check in. Food: Zero complaints. Buffet always kept clean with more than enough selection. They had a Mexican and Italian theme night at the Buffet that was very good. During lunch and dinner there is a grilled meat station open and in the mornings, that same area is an omelette and egg station (this is also where you go to get the bacon in the morning). Drinks are self serve at the buffet which is I'm not sure if I like or dislike. It has it's pros and cons. It's a nice option to be able to get up and get your own drink whenever you want it so that's convenient. They do also have beer and wine self serve at lunch and dinner which is also handy for people to walk in and grab if they don't want to go to the bar. However, I found it got a bit congested in the corners where the drink station was and sometimes you felt rushed as people were standing waiting behind you while you were trying to make your tea/coffee etc. Overall it's a good thing I guess but I think but I do think it makes the buffett area busier than it needs to be at times. We got to eat at all 3 a la carte restaurants and they were all very good but the Mexican was definitely the best!! We had DeShawn (sorry probably not the correct spelling) twice as a server at the a la carte restaurants and he is fabulous. Definitely great at his job! It was no issue for us getting reservations. I decided not to bother using the app and just went to the desk opposite of reception and they made all of the reservations for me and were very easy and friendly to deal with. Public Washrooms/Main Seating areas: Honestly these are the only areas in which I feel the resort could provide a little more attention to. The bathrooms always seemed to be kept clean for the most part but they do need some upkeep when it comes to things like t.p and paper towel dispensers falling off the wall and lack of soap dispensers. The main seating areas in and around the main bar could use someone wiping down of the tables more frequently. As we all know, some guests are not as considerate as others and leave their stuff lying around everywhere or spilling things and just leaving them behind. However, this unfortunately means that there is more of a need for staff to have to pick up after them which I just found wasn't being done that frequently (this could possibly be just due to short staffage, I'm not sure?). The Pool Area: I came down several mornings to quite a bit of spillage on the lounge chairs from people's drinks and garbage lying around. Again, this is caused by people not being considerate of others and picking up after themselves, but, because of this, it does need more attention. I hope I have managed to touch on everything. Would I recommend this place to others? YES! Would I come back again? YES! A beautiful resort with so much to do and see!

    rating24 May 2026

Viva Fortuna was incredibly gorgeous! The beaches, the water, and the staff were all amazing! The zumba instructor, Amber of NRG2GO, had so much energy and had a huge following in her classes! Zumba was one of my faves during my visit, as well as snorkeling right in front of the resort! I would definitely recommend this resort - the view from our room was incredible and the food and drinks were great! And again, the daily activities were always a lot of fun. Moldy rooms!

    rating23 May 2026

The location is fantastic, offering a laid-back vibe with lively pool activities and nightly entertainment. Unfortunately, the rooms were where the problems began. The first room I was given was awful—far behind the pizza place—and my child, who is highly sensitive to mold, started sneezing immediately upon entry. The faucet was detached from the sink, the toilet seat wobbled, and it was clear the room hadn’t been properly cleaned; hair was still on the shower wall and floor. It was already midnight, so I decided to address it in the morning. By morning, the AC had leaked heavily onto the floor. Reception was no help, repeatedly saying the hotel was full and telling me to come back tomorrow, even when I offered to pay extra for a members’ section room. It took four days to get moved, and only after I went to guest services—where, conveniently, a room was suddenly available. By then we'd all suffered from the mold-infested room. Reception could have saved me so much trouble if they’d simply directed me there. If you’re not in the members’ building, check your bed and pillows carefully. The shower water swung from cold to scalding in seconds, and I sprayed for bugs every night. The food was okay, though some seemed recycled from the day before. The pool was cloudy, and after two attempts, I avoided it altogether. The beach was beautiful—bring water shoes for the rocky entry, but beyond that, the sand is smooth and perfect for snorkeling. The grounds were clean, well maintained; wish I can say the same for the rooms. If you’re staying at this property, rent a car—it’s inexpensive for the week and a great way to explore Freeport. To the Italian owner, please consider reinvesting in the property, as guests shouldn’t have to sleep on mattresses and pillows in such poor condition. One day it rained, and water was pouring from the buffet ceiling. On another day, the water was gone, with no apology or compensation and the reception kept insisting it would be back in an hour. Many many hours went by before it finally returned. The reception staff seem to make up stories about everything, and I began to think that’s part of their job. They have no interest in helping you! Considering the condition of the rooms, I would not return. I have to mention that I only noticed the condition of the bed and pillows because I entered the room, unaware that housekeeping had stepped out, presumably to get bed linen. That’s when I saw the state of the bed; otherwise, I would have been none the wiser. There’s a lot to upload, but I think you get the gist from these!
