  Lovely building, frustrating hospitality

  The hotel looks lovely, the location is great, and the rooms were perfectly clean.The service completely took the shine off our stay. I had emailed weeks in advance requesting that our group’s rooms be placed next to each other. We were put on the same floor but across the corridor. Frustratingly, our room actually had an adjoining door to another room, so the hotel clearly has the right layout for groups—they just didn't bother to allocate it properly despite the advanced notice.The water filter/ice machine in reception was broken. When we got back to the hotel around 9:00 PM on a weekday, I went to the bar to buy large bottles of water. Even though it advertises opening until 10:00 PM, I was told it was already closed. (Lucky I didn't want food, as that would have been a disaster). I was directed to the reception fridge instead, forcing me to buy small glasses of water at a much higher expense.To make matters worse, when I went down the next morning to get water for our group, the bar refused again, and the reception fridge had no water and was told sold out even though there was water in bar fridge less than 10ft away.   Good hotel, perfect location

  Perfect location as there's a bridge from the door of the hotel to the railway station. Lots of trains into centre which takes about 5 minutes. There's an underground carpark. Hotel rooms comfortable, clean and spacious. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good choice of breakfast.   Nice Hotel - Let down by small items.

  We stayed here in early April and found the hotel to be clean, the food good, and the staff were very helpful. Unfortunately, it was let down by poor communication and room service.The first issue that we found was that the shower was very slippery, and the only way to make it safe was to put the shower mat inside the shower when showering. We went to Reception to ask for an anti-slip shower mat, but none were available, so the receptionist agreed to have additional shower mats delivered during our 3-day stay, none appeared.During our first evening, I went to switch the bed head-light off, and it fell apart, exposing the wiring, but this was rectified the following day.During our stay, our tea and coffee were not refilled, and we had to go to reception to get some more.I do find it quite disappointing that such minor problems let down nice hotels like this; however, I am pleased to report that the fire safety provisions looked good.   Fantastic hotel - lousy shower

  Very good hotel. All ok except for the shower which was completely "chalked". Could be better. No big effort to clean this every day.
