  This hotel is surprisingly stylish once you step inside. My room was incredibly well-designed—super cute, with a lot of character—and I genuinely loved it. The design really stayed in my mind after the stay.Parking around the hotel is a bit difficult, but the evening receptionist was kind enough to help me and let me park in a good spot, which I really appreciated.Unfortunately, the experience was negatively impacted in the morning by a male receptionist who was very rude. He insisted I check out exactly on the minute, in a way that felt unnecessarily harsh and unwelcoming. It honestly put a bad ending on an otherwise lovely stay, and it’s a shame because the hotel’s design and atmosphere deserve better service.To be fair, the evening receptionist was excellent—polite, helpful, and professional. With more consistent hospitality, this place would be a great experience overall.   Friendly staff, friendly staff. The rooms are neat, not too big.   Overall our stay was good! Gorgeous decorations all over the hotel. Perfect location at the edge of the city center (pretty much everything is doable on foot!), good breakfast, great price. We even got a free upgrade from 2 single beds to 1 double. But we were right at the elevator (room 19) and could hear the door separating our hallway and the elevator very well. The tv was very dark and you had to turn off all the lights to be able to see anything as the lights reflected in the screen. Only 5 towels so we had to use the same wet towel on the floor. No bottled water in the room. And the pillows made for a longgggggggggggg night as a i kept tossing and turning.   Dodgy uneducated male receptionist frightening

  I put 1 star for the room since no telephone was installed and if someone had any emergency it will cause inconvenience and maybe life threats! We were checked in on 18th August, out on 19th August (room 28, second floor).All was good as we got upgraded to superior room mind that my husband is an Accor member.But the nightmare was happening when suddenly at 1 am on 19th our room door was banged harshly and hardly to wake up us up. How on earth we had confidence to open the door the way he asked us to do ! Then that person was gone. We tried to find a fix phone in the room and noticed there wasn’t any. Then my husband called the hotel by his mobile and found out that dodgy untrained no manner receptionist (male) that called us said the smoke alarm was activated (which at the end he said it’s a false alarm) and he threatened us will call police and we said please as we didn’t smoke and after 10 mins waiting in frustration and feel frightened by this Ibis Styles Hasselt male receptionist none come not even police and we called again asking the police and he said it was false alarm without no manner no apologies. It’s really underrated and shame such Accor can have this kind of employee.Next morning my husband met the kind of manager which I doubted because no further professional apology only said so sorry for the inconveniences. So everyone, I don’t recommend this IBIS STYLE HASSELT CITY CENTER with the penguin statue .Apparently just found out many good reputable hotels like Holiday Inn (2 hotels) right in the small ring of City Center. Unfortunately this incident happend due to a fire alarm within your room. It's our obligation and responsiblity to enter the room to make sure that everyone is safe in the room and within the hotel. Our night receptionist handled in this way correctly. Obviously the pereception of how you've experienced this could be completely the opposite and understandable when you're at sleep.Actually our night receptionist should have been entering the room the room straigth away afterwards because this is the internal policy but did not happen since it was refused.It is correct that we do not have any fixed phones in the room anymore.Since myself, Tom Cruys - General Manager, was absent due to vacation, our Operations Manager in charge came on his day off especially to handle the situation correctly. Once again we feel very sorry for having brought you a sleepless night due to a false fire alarm. On the other hand our employee handled very correctly, offered a complementary stay and truly disagree with some remarks within your comment.We still remain at your disposal, and would like to openly discuss this with a coffee on us!Regards,Tom Cruys - General Manager

  If you want to experience how it feels to be a battery chicken, go there. The room is super tiny, there is no space to put anything, it is dark, you cannot open the window, not even a little bit. The toilet is in the room, no door, no privacy. The bed is only accessible from one side. I was alone, if travelling with a partner it must be hell (it was supposed to be a double bed room !). I don't know what they thought when they designed this....
