    Pleasant stay, would go again

I stayed for one night in mid September. I appreciated the hotel accepting a late check-in (23:20). They didn't tell me the details of breakfast, but ultimately it didn't matter as I slept through my alarm and had to get woken up at check out time by a staff person. Oops. They were very understanding. Older hotel, but still quite nice. Clearly, the bed was comfortable. ☺️ The location is amazing, right by the train/bus station. No concerns about safety in the area. I'd definitely stay here again.

    Ummm needs a little TLC.

My friend and I recently stayed in this hotel, we actually stayed here many many years ago and had a fabulous stay, sadly this wasn't the case this vist..the hotel itself has changed beyond recognition, gone is the lovely friendly bar and brasserie, the food here is at best cafe standard..where oncenit was top french cuisine..we didn't eat here once in the 4 days we were here..we stayed in for a drink on our first night after a long arduous journey only to have the barman clearing up around us at 10pm, not very comfortable..the hotel wasn't really very welcoming. The room we shared was a twin room, very small and lots of things not working.e.g.lights, hairdryer, bedside light..and the cement grouting on the bathroom floor coming out everytime we went in there ( it was like treading on pieces of lego) The beds although the mattresses were comfortable, every time you moved it slid off the bed..there were no tea/ coffee making facilities in the room but we were given them when we asked..the once beautiful breakfast room was gone and it looked like the breakfast was served in the bar. The location is great but that's about the best thing going for it..all in all it wasn't a bad stay but not great either..sorry.

A room for one night as a pass-through.

Hotel is convenient to train station, which if needed is convenient. No hotel parking but public parking available a block away. While the hotel was relatively clean, it was very dated. If we were staying more than one night, I would have been disappointed, as there were a limited number of restaurants and/or things to do nearby. Additionally, I would not recommend walking the neighborhood alone at off-hours.

Good place for a drink before a train journey

    rating26 May 2024

This hotel and restaurant was one of the first to be built around the railway station in the 19th century, so as a piece of history, I was glad to go in. We had drinks before getting on a train - it is a short walk from this restaurant to the railway station, so is a good place for a coffee or a beer before a train journey.

good restaurant in a good hotel

You can see the hotel once you step out from the train station. The hotel is a bit dated, but when you enter the room, you have everything you need. The bed is very comfortable, bathroom is very clean. They even have a luggage holder in the room. The Old town is a bit far from the train station, you can easily get a bus. If you walk to the Old town, it is a easy walk and you can also explore the city. The hotel has a restaurant, very popular, food is good as well.
