  Peaceful, heavenly stay

  X'Tan Ha far exceeded our expectations & the photos we saw before arrival. Yaniri, Elias Mairi & the entire staff were lovely, room was well appointed, pools sparkling, overwater bar is dreamy, food & drinks delicious. We stayed in a seafront villa. The resort is in a peaceful area which we enjoyed, but we also explored all over island with our golf cart. It is seaweed season, but they cleaned it off the beach all day long so it was clear & water was gorgeous. We plan to return as soon as we can. A prefect vacation!   Peaceful Stay with Great Service & Easy Access to Top Spots

  I recently stayed at X’tan Ha Resort and had a very relaxing experience overall. If you’re looking for a quiet, laid-back place to unwind, this is a great option.The property is well maintained and has a calm, peaceful atmosphere. It never felt crowded, which made it easy to fully relax and enjoy the surroundings. The beachfront is nice to look at and adds to the overall vibe, although we didn’t end up using the beach during our stay.The room itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with everything we needed for the stay. The bed was very comfortable, and the room size made the stay even more enjoyable. WiFi worked well throughout the property, which was a plus.One of my favorite parts was the hammock right outside the room—there was always a nice breeze, and it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind.The pools are a highlight—there are two pools, and both were always clean and well maintained, which made it easy to enjoy them at any time of day. We also visited Portofino Beach Resort—their bar and restaurant were excellent, but the pool there wasn’t as clean as what we experienced at X’tan Ha. Overall, I would still choose to stay at X’tan Ha for the comfort and upkeep.Back at X’tan Ha, the on-site restaurant and bar were convenient and enjoyable. The food was good overall, with a few standout items—the loaded pizza, octopus, burgers, and breakfast were all great. It was a great place to sit, have a drink, and take in the views throughout the day.During the trip, we also tried a few other restaurants including Rain, Caramba Restaurant, and Blue Water Grill. Each offered a different experience, and it was nice having a variety of dining options both on and off the resort.The spa service at X’tan Ha was another highlight and noticeably better than what we experienced at Portofino—definitely worth taking advantage of during your stay.One thing that really stood out was the communication. The staff is very active on WhatsApp and responds quickly, which made everything—from questions to requests—easy and stress-free throughout the stay. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall experience.The shuttle service from the airport to the resort was also great. They even coordinated a stop at the grocery store for us, which we scheduled through the resort in advance—very convenient and a thoughtful touch.The location is a bit outside the main town, but that actually works in your favor if you want peace and quiet. The resort also has a dock, and some boats can pick you up directly from there for dinner or water tours, which makes getting around very convenient.If you plan to explore, a golf cart is definitely recommended. You’ll need one to get into San Pedro or other areas on the island. The north side is also close by, making it easy to visit nearby spots.One thing to be aware of across the island is sargassum (seaweed). It wasn’t just at the resort—we noticed it in multiple areas, including Caye Caulker, and even when we went further out by boat. That said, there are a few spots where it’s much less noticeable. Secret Beach and Iguana Reef Inn were great alternatives if you’re looking for clearer water.We also visited Matachica Resort & Spa for lunch, which was great. There are plenty of good options nearby for lunch and dinner, so it’s easy to mix things up during your stay.If you’re heading into town, I highly recommend Caramba Restaurant—some of the best seafood we had on the trip.We also booked a mainland tour during our trip, and that ended up being one of the best parts. Everything was well organized from start to finish, and we were taken care of the entire time.This is a great spot for couples or anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing stay rather than a busy resort atmosphere.Overall, X’tan Ha offered a relaxing and memorable stay. I’d absolutely come back and would recommend it to anyone visiting Ambergris Caye.   Generally nice with some downsides.

  Pros: Beautiful property with grounds well kept; lovely pools kept clean with plenty of loungers, complimentary kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling gear and beach towels to use at the resort; over the water bar area where you could also dine, but we had to order inside the restaurant first. Concierge was helpful. Having a Seaside Villa was extra nice and it was a perfect size. Air conditioning worked great. Very quiet resort.Cons: FAR from everything else. To enjoy the island you will need to rent a golf cart, which they offer at the resort, but at a premium price. We found a golf cart rental which was delivered and picked up at the hotel for or more reasonable price. The road to town was horrible, full of pot holes which made it slow and painful. Road in closer to San Pedro were nicer, so you could avoid the extremely bumpy ride if your were nearer. The beach was full of Sea Grass so we really could not swim there, or walk on the beach at the resort. The island and the resort did not have long stretches of beach to just go for a walk either. Not a very nice restaurant, breakfast was decent, but dinner was just ok. Restaurant staff did not really seem to enjoy serving you. Breakfast doesn't start until 8am but for most excursions you have to leave before that so we missed a couple that we paid to have included. Bed was very mushy. Overall it was fine, but we would try something different if we went back to Ambergris Caye.
