    Below Expectation of a 4-star Hotel

    Had a decent stay at Arena Leme. For a 4-star hotel, the breakfast buffet was very good, the rooftop bar view of Leme beach was fantastic, and the hotel location was excellent. But on the down side, the room was small for a 4-star and looked run down. Bathroom amenities and slippers were not provided. And the pool and gym were very small.     A total disappointment from day one

    From the moment we arrived, when we were told to come back in 30 mins when our room would be ready and after returning 1 hour later and no staff at the front desk and no communication from anyone and waiting a further 40 mins, the experience continued to go downhillIt was one of the worst hotel experiences of our life.Rooms are not clean and have a damp atmosphere and mould smell. We were moved to a different room (at 10 mins notice) due to the dangerous scalding hot water in the shower that could not be fixed by an extremely poor maintenance team. Hotel staff at reception are unfriendly, uncaring and non engaging. The manager is never around and when he is available talks to you as if nothing is wrong an he's mystified like we are talking about a different hotel.There, we're 1 or 2 staff in the breakfast area that were helpful but this really was not enough to change the depression we felt when getting back to the hotel after being out on an exciting excursion. If I could give zero out of five, I would.How this was a recommended hotel with the travel company we used is quite amazing!Please avoid this place, there are many other far better options along the coastline than this!

    Needs Major Improvement in Cleanliness and Service

    I stayed here starting March 21 for four nights and had a disappointing experience. I booked two rooms, and both had a strong moldy smell.One of the rooms also had ants, which made the stay very uncomfortable. I reported these issues to the concierge, but unfortunately nothing was done to resolve them.The pool was extremely small—hardly something I would even consider a proper pool. The water was dirty and cloudy, and despite reporting it, there was no improvement.The beds were also quite uncomfortable, making it difficult to get proper rest.The location is far from the main Copacabana hot spots, which may be inconvenient for some travelers.On the positive side, the breakfast was good, and the rooftop view was amazing.Overall, while there are a few positives, the cleanliness, facilities, and service need significant improvement.     Big disappointment

    Initially, I intended to give this hotel a one star rating. However, I ultimately decided on two stars in recognition of the staff’s efforts to address the issues we encountered, although unfortunately these efforts were not sufficient to fully resolve our concerns.Upon arrival, my wife and I stood at the reception desk for some time without acknowledgment. We were only attended to after stepping closer and actively seeking the receptionists’ attention. After completing the registration paperwork and receiving our room key, we were provided with information about hotel tours; however, all materials were in French, and neither of us speaks the language.When we entered our room, the thermostat displayed 28°C, and there was a strong, unpleasant odor reminiscent of urine and mold. Within minutes, we both began to feel unwell. Concerned about the cleanliness, I wiped the floor with a piece of toilet paper, which came back covered in dust and hair. I immediately reported the situation to the manager on duty and asked him to inspect the room personally. He agreed that the temperature was excessive and that the odor was unacceptable. As we felt unable to remain in the room, he informed us that no alternative rooms were available due to the Carnival period, which we understood.While we were outside exploring other hotel options, the manager approached us to say that he had located two rooms for us to view. After waiting approximately 45 minutes, we were shown the rooms and selected one to stay in. Although it had been heavily sprayed with air freshener, it did smell better than the first room. However, the floor was again visibly dusty and covered with hair. I presented the manager with the soiled paper as evidence, after which he apologized, arranged for the room to be vacuumed, and offered us a complimentary dinner. He also assured us that we could move to a superior room within two days.The following day, once the air freshener scent dissipated, the unpleasant odor began to return. Nevertheless, we chose to wait for the promised room change. We were subsequently contacted by another manager, Elizabeth, who was extremely apologetic and committed to improving our stay. She reiterated the offer of a complimentary dinner and drinks, and as we were on our honeymoon, she kindly arranged for a bottle of sparkling wine and chocolates to be sent to our room. We genuinely appreciated this thoughtful gesture.When we were finally moved to a new room, the conditions were significantly better. Elizabeth even provided an air purifier, which made a noticeable difference. We enjoyed the complimentary drinks and later dined at the hotel restaurant, charging the meal to our room with the expectation that it would be removed from the final bill as previously discussed. Unfortunately, this charge was not voided at checkout, which was disappointing and influenced my final rating.The breakfast experience was average at best. On the first day, there was a partially functioning bread toaster, which was subsequently removed and replaced with a sandwich press that toasted bread very slowly. Buffet items were frequently depleted, and although the staff appeared to be working diligently, they struggled to manage the volume of guests. Overall, the food quality was underwhelming.We also visited the rooftop pool area. The pool itself was very small and appeared poorly maintained. There was a visible layer of oil on the water’s surface, presumably from sunscreen and tanning products, along with a significant amount of hair. Even in the heat of the day, the condition of the pool discouraged us from entering it.For all of these reasons, despite the sincere efforts of certain members of staff, we would not choose to return to this hotel nor recommend it to others.

    Expensive and unhelpful staff

    The hotel was functional and clean, however the staff were rude and unhelpful. We asked for some very basic things like a bottle of water and got met with a shrug of the shoulders. For the service provided it was extremely expensive.
