    Not a 4 star hotel

    rating23 Apr 2026

This hotel styles itself as 4 stars. It would be 3 stars at best in USA & most other places. The position is good being 9 minutes from Cardeal Arcoverde Metro station & across the road from the beach. The desk men were stiff & not welcoming or friendly. The white towels were grey & hard but with an attractive logo & the hotel name woven into them. The shower water was good but it came out as a torrent rather than a spray. I didn't bother asking for a new nozzle to be fitted. The room was small & congested. There was a workplace on a shelf near the TV at the foot of the beds but if someone was sitting in the chair, no one could get past to the windows or bathroom. There were no tea or coffee making facilities. The breakfast was adequate but the only eggs were scrambled, there was no bacon & any other cooked food. There was plenty of fruit, melons & three cereals. The AC blew down on the head end of the beds. It could be adjusted so it blew on one or the other but whoever it blew on made sleep difficult. The above looks like a lot of negatives but the price was reasonable.

Excellent location however a bit worn and torn.

A bit worn and torn. Excellent location. Staff somehow seemed less interested in their guests. Maybe a cheerful hi welcome, how are you, where are you of to today…..etc is too much to ask for? . Breakfast ok. WiFi very unstable. Collapsed completely when we where about to leave.

    Just ok

    rating04 Nov 2025

Great location across from beach. Breakfast was acceptable with lots of fresh fruit and pastries for those who like sweets; the rest rather mediocre. Unresolved problems like light and tub jets in bathroom not working in spite of daily requests and promises to fix over 4 day stay. Evening mosquito visitors from open window while we were gone made for uncomfortable sleep. Least engaging staff of all the hotels we have stayed in over 3 weeks in Brazil. Stay was ok but reality falls short of expectations.

    Nice hotel, perfect location

    rating03 Oct 2025

Nice hotel, brilliant location overlooking Copacabana. We had a sea view room which was well worth the extra cost.Only disappointment was the WiFi, in our room it was awful, kept dropping out, couldn't send messages etc. It seemed better in reception and on the roof. The pool on the roof is tiny so it's more for a dip rather than a swim. There's a bar on the roof too which has great views over the beach and Christ the redeemer.Breakfast is good, nice selection.Staff were friendly and helpful and some spoke very good English. There are only 2 lifts and sometimes you waited a while for one.Would recommend and would stay here again.

    Decent for 3 stars

    rating09 Jul 2025

Very basic place but a great location: minutes from the Copacabana beach. My friend and stayed for over 10 days so needed a budget friendly place. This place is okay for the money. About 8 rooms are cluster in a small space, so expect some noise. The room was small but fine for one person (we each had our own room). I worry about theft so only have cleaning every other day and mostly that for towels and to clear the beach sand. The bed and bedding was comfortable enough. 4 pillows which was shocking and a blanket in the closet. I like cold air and the a/c worked perfectly in the small space. The toiletries were minimal, so a short walk to a pharmacy solved that problem. One really great thing: a nice long bathroom counter. Wifi is surprisingly decent. The free breakfast buffet was nice and had a good variety of foods. I didn't use every day though. The staff is okay (not as much English) in fact the doorman spoke more English than the reception staff. But I know that may not happen in hotels like this. Apps help with communication. The elevator service was horrendous. One working elevator for a hotel is insane and a slow one at that. I was on floor 3 so stairs for me. It's a relatively small hotel so expect noise! Thank goodness I travel with earplugs. Anyway, the location is what recommends this place. Minutes from delightful restaurants and beach life. Maxim's Restaurant outside the hotel is great and a little cafe called Conversa is around the corner. This is my second stay in Rio and the first place we stayed at (Excelsior) is a little nice for the money. All in all, it depends on what you want! I want to stay at the Copacabana Palace but that ain't happening any time soon!
