    Communication prior to check-in was excellent, and we received a warm welcome from reception. However, upon leaving the lift, the corridor on the 7th floor smelled strongly of stale smoke.While our refurbished room appeared clean and spacious at first glance, the standard quickly fell short of expectations. The bed was clearly old and incredibly uncomfortable, lacking a mattress protector, and the pillows were hard and flat. As a result, we both suffered from back pain throughout our stay and for some time afterwards. The fridge was also outdated and showed visible signs of rust, and was in need of replacement.Breakfast offered a reasonable range of fruit, bread, cakes, eggs, and a hot dish; however, the dining room itself did not feel adequately clean. The air conditioning units were dripping and dirty, and the tables and chairs were sticky — none of which is acceptable in any dining environment.Overall, this hotel fell significantly short that we would expect from a 3-star property and did not represent good value for money. We were left disappointed and would not return.

    Great location steps to Ipanema and Copacabana

    Location is top, hotel is basic, clean, everything we needed for breakfast. The papaya was amazing! Shower was good, mattress & pillows were a little run down, but bedding was clean. Staff were very friendly and always greeted us. Area is at the edge of Ipanema, which is high end and very clean. The beach is superb. Lots of restaurants nearby. We felt safe walking back in the evenings. We didn’t stay out late but would take an uber if needed. We walked in the evenings to the Copacabana side, where they have a market every day from 4pmArea is lit up with flood lights, even the beach.Just a safety tip, do not engage with vendors or take photos of them. There are many on the beach and they just walk by, are never pushy or aggressive. However if you show interest or take a photo they expect $ …we learned to just say no thank you and turn the other way. We had no problems. Loved our 5 day stay in Ipanema.

    Seaview double room on 11th floor had fabulous view of sunset as did rooftop terrace. Hotel is in need of investment however price reflects this. Bathroom in my room was in good condition however the room was not. Electrical socket coming away from wall; masking tape on bathroom door frame and covering one wall light, significant paint flaking from previous water damage around very old window. One bathroom in reception area had a taped toilet seat. Room was clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast adequate. The roof terrace is a great asset.

    Amazing location, spacious rooms and includes an ok breakfast. Room rates were reasonable for the location. Steps from ipanema and copacabana beach.Would stay again in Rio.They also watched my luggage after I checked out and let me check in early.

    Room was clean and comfortable. Good rate. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was good. Location was in between Copacabana and Ipanema beach. Drug store, restaurants , laundry & barber were nearby to get everything we needed. Cabs and Ubers were easy to access.
