    I would not recommend staying here. I had to leave in the middle of the night and get accomodation nearby due to so many issues. The accommodation is terrible and the staff refuse to assist you. They inform you to speak to management who are impossible to get hold of. I have stayed at a lot of hostels in my time and this is hands down the worst….

    As first time in Che lagarto copacabana hostel and as first experience there .. I would like to say that I’ve enjoyed my stay there .. good vibes and wonderful atmosphere and you can have tons of friends as you are a solo traveler .. for me I haven’t had any problem at all during my stay in that hostel as I stayed for 10 days which is enough to see any problems.. hostel is close to copacabana beach about 3 blocks .. value for money as I see the hostel place to sleep only not to spend your life inside your room while you are in vacation

    This was my second stay in Che Lagarto Copacabana. The Hostel is nice, the employees are friendly, competent and you will find people speaking at least portugues, espangol and some english. It's good located, the prices are hard to beat and the included breakfast as well as the caipirinha at the evening are a great offer! Always a pleasure to stay.

    Worst hostel I stayed at in 4 months travelling around South America.

    Was never so happy to be leaving a hostel.They don't turn the aircon on til 8pm. My room was basically in a basement so no airflow. Towels not available to rent.Tiny kitchen that is like a sauna when cooking. No lighter to light the gas rings (had to ask a staff member for their own lighter).No to handle hot pots/pans (had to use my own towel)Terrible wifi.Music blaring at reception from morning til night.Very average breakfast.Staff were nice people but extremely slow/inefficient.Bathrooms are extremely small and cramped.There seemed to be a guy permanently living in my dorm that got up around 8pm every day to go out and sell stuff at night. He came in around 6am every morning and then snored like a horse for about 12 hours.

    We were a bit disappointed considering the "big name" this hostel has in Rio.The showers are cold for starts.The main issue we had is that the aircon is controlled centrally so doesn't turn on until 8pm. We had an afternoon rest in the room and was absolutely sweltering, you could barely stand to be in the room. Couldn't open the doors too long as room fills with mosquitoes (no fly screen). Also we had a private room for a couple but had single bunk beds (bit weird?)The rooftop bar area had a weird vibe, pumping Latino music at absolutely full volume early in the night so struggled to even chat to other people. Pretty disappointed by this hostelThey booked tours for us which were good so I can recommend that
