    Just to rest

    rating19 May 2024

Very simple hotel, but with a great location, practically opposite access to the Catete metro. It has a simple but satisfying breakfast. The accommodations are simple and there was no shower in the bathroom, just a curtain, which made everything wet. The air conditioning was turned on at reception. Negative point. It's worth it if you prioritize low cost. Originally submitted in Portuguese on www.tripadvisor.com.br. View originals.

Excellent location, structure to be desired

    rating02 Feb 2024

The hotel has positive and negative points to take into consideration. Such as:Good 👍- Excellent location, 10 minutes from Praia do Flamengo, with shops and brands nearby, a good variety of restaurants with good value for money and easy access to the cultural attractions of the city center;- Friendly and polite staff (especially the cleaning lady, with whom I exchanged cards and who is a sweet person);- Charming external architecture;- Good cakes for breakfast;- Good quality of wi-fi and air conditioning;- Provision of towels, soap and minibar.Bad 👎- The internal structure is very old and needs an urgent review. There are peeling paintings on the walls, furniture with its days numbered, doors with loosely screwed handles, an old television with only open channels available (my partner is German, so the hotel's advertising about having a TV was frustrating);- The showers in the simpler rooms are very cold. Even following the receptionist's trick (opening it and waiting for it to heat up) the temperature was still not pleasant for bathing;- The reservation description said that the room had a view of either the city or the "garden". However, our room was in the moat and didn't even have a window - and the famous garden, from what we saw, was actually the parking lot. In other words: it was dark and a little claustrophobic, with the noise from the loud moat - and I think it is very important that guests are informed about this before making a reservation, as it is something that can make a difference in the comfort of many people (in our , did a lot);- I felt that some amenities could be offered, especially in rooms without windows (miniature shampoo, hairdryer...). Most guests return to the hotel after a day at the beach, and there are no small rugs either at the door or anywhere in the room to clean their feet. The minibar was on, but empty - and as someone who has stayed in many hotels with minibars, I believe it would be very practical to have drinks in them, even though they generate extra costs to be settled at check-out. Furthermore: in Rio's 40°C heat, complimentary water would have made all the difference in the well-being of tourists;- The kitchen only works for breakfast, and there is no possibility of buying anything other than what is in the hotel's drinks machine - which, despite everything, is very quick and practical. The problem is that, as a result, there are not enough drinks available for guests - and many individualistic people buy all the water and soft drinks, without thinking that other guests will also need them. In one of these cases, in fact, the guest who was in front of me in line had the nerve to take everything in front of me without the slightest shame;- Lack of blankets. Even though it's summer, for example, the air conditioning works well, and covering a couple with just the sheet on the bed is not enough. In short: I believe it is useful for people who want a good location close to the center, with a little more security. However, even though prices in Rio are high during the summer season, the price of R$252 per night for a double room with a double bed is not consistent with the true value of the hotel. Therefore, it is clear that the owners and administrators could use a little more money to carry out some appropriate renovations and purchase items that offer guests more comfort during their stay. STAFF AT THIS HOTEL STEAL!!!

    rating21 Nov 2016

The staff stole from us - the cleaning lady came into our room on the last day and stole our possessions by putting our things in a black bin liner as if she was cleaning to avoid being caught on the hotel's CCTV.The hotel accepted responsibility having watched their CCTV but have yet to compensate us.

    An average happiness

    rating09 May 2016

Warm welcoming by the receptionist later in the evening. Guarding us to our rooms. A very helpful personal. Specifically the reception clerk Luís. He speaks very well English. He recommended some places: where to change euro for BRL, how to behave as a tourist in Rio. He booked a trip to ilha grande for us 4, he was patient with the payment of our stay. He also kept our luggage when we left for two days to Foz do Iguazu. Room 412: one double bed, air con (controller when you ask for it), fridge, bedside table, window- no glass, don´t be surprised, wardrobe and very easy bathroom. In the room 412 I slept well. After we returned from a trip, we got a room 312 and there was little noisy in the evening. We heard cars from the parking place early in the morning, and we had loud neighbours. Shower - hot water, toilet sink and mirror. Daily tidying up- new towels and soaps. Breakfast: every day a different kind of cake and fruits. Pineapple, melone, water melone, jelly, cheese, ham, butter, jam, fresh orange juice, coffee, milk, tea, hot chocolate. Very easy breakfast. You can also make a toast. Dinning room is also tidy up and table ready for you and your friends. But nothing for you if you're fussy and spoilt to have yogurt and muesli and more choice of cheese for breakfast. You might get tired of the same breakfast every day. I was happy with that!Location: the hotel is located just next to the metro station catete. A safe part of Rio I would say. Very close to the wonderful and clean beach Flamengo. Easy to go for a run in the morning. All shops you might need are in a walkable distance. You´ll see many drugstores.

    an acceptable cheapy.

    rating25 Dec 2015

First impression was a bit grotty, but in fact the bed was comfortable, the fridge worked, the wifi was excellent and the breakfast was above average with a good selection. Location is good, just of the Machado square and Calete metro stop 5 metres from the door, plenty of good cheap restos on the doorstep and Flamenco beach 5 minute walk. Acceptable for a night or two, if you want to be in the action.
