  I read the reviews after i booked 2 rooms and that was a mistake. Believe the 1 and 2 star bad reviews. I would give zero stars if possible. We checked in with an english speaking woman who was pleasant. She took our passports, i signed the paper. She said we can have rooms next to each other. I told her we wouldnt be back from our tour until late tonight, she said no problem. They held our luggage in the room behind the desk. We went on a tour, and arrived back later at night. We went to the front desk to get our room keys. Our rooms were not together when they initially told us that they would be. We went to our room 513. Our key did not work. We went back down and got a different room number 503. Tried that room, someone opened the door as it was occupied. Went back down to the desk. The workers who speak no English went upstairs and came back down to tell us we were getting a different room. Went up to check the room. That one did not work. Finally after the 4th attempt, we were "upgraded" to a king bed with an ocean view room. Room 505. The room was very dirty. Curtains look like they have never been washed and full of stains. Sheets are stained. Mold in the bathroom. Hair on the bathroom wall from previous guest. Floors were very dirty. They claim to use WhatsApp but never once responded to my messages. I asked about setting up an airport shuttle and it was ignored. I cant believe people pay this kind of money to stay at a place like this. In the morning, the breakfast was great. The Air conditioner hardly worked. We tried to explain to the front desk that we did not get the ocean view and she argued with us, that they upgraded our room to an ocean view with private bathroom-fine. But the other room was not ocean view. Here are our "ocean view" photos from one room. The other room we got upgraded to which did have an ocean view room. I've added photos of the mold/dirty curtains/dirty bathroom as well. I emailed the manager but am not very hopeful to get a response unfortunately.

  GOD where to start. Booked 2 ocean front views. Then by some miracle both rooms got bumped, then maracously one of the rooms were upgraded to an ocean front view, but we already paid for 2 ocean views .The second room that was given to us was a total s*^it hole. . Well the detached shared crapper was not working. I had to take a dump, toilet would not flush, next morning I had to s**t again, toilet not fixed , I decided to put a layer of T.P over it , but decided not too because I wasn’t there to create a 7 layer sh**t cake. Employee’s could not make decisions to make things right, management was not available( another miracle). If it comes down to it, We’ll have the credit card company do a charge back, would I give this place a 5 * , well no. I would give it a NEGATIVE 5 * oh ya the crapper was so bad, I couldn’t take photo, sorry. However maybe the pics of my ocean view will load up.

  I cannot recommend this hostel. The room we were given was dirty (stains and hair in the bed, an unclean bathroom, dust and hair on the floor, etc.). When I informed the receptionist, I was met with a very unhelpful and rude attitude. Instead of addressing the issue, she argued with us and offered no assistance (her name was Lusila).Even after complaining three times, the room was still not cleaned (they only gave us some towels as a lovely courtesy !!) so we decided to leave and switch to another hostel.Additionally, the window in our first-floor room could be opened from the outside, and the “safety lockers” did not function at all, which made the stay feel unsafe.

  Avoid Socialtel at all costs.This was by far the worst hostel experience I have ever had. Our room was dirty upon arrival, with hair all over the bathroom and even blood stains on the beds. When we kindly asked the receptionist Lucila to do something about this, we were met with rudeness and showing no willingness to solve the issue. Even the manager, Diego, was just as unhelpful and disrespectful, which made the situation even worse.The pictures of the rooms online are completely misleading, the lockers for valuables did not work, and to make matters worse, the window in our room could actually be opened from the outside, making it unsafe. We ended up leaving the hostel the same day when ee were supposed to stay here for five days.This place is dirty, unsafe, dishonest, and offers the worst customer service imaginable. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from Socialtel.

  I do not recommend this hostel! The rooms look nothing like the pictures, and there are no common areas. The beds had stains and hairs all over, and the bathroom obviously hadn’t been cleaned in several days. When we told the receptionist, she answered in an extremely rude and unprofessional way. There was a huge window out to the street that could be opened from the outside, and the lockers for valuables were not possible to lock. Ended up having to switch hostels immediately, as it didn’t feel safe to stay here.
