  Extremely disappointed with this hotel

  Donuts and pools great that is the good bit hotel clean but with no atmosphere most of the staff miserable especially the towel lady food repetitive and dessert extremely boring little pieces of cake a bit of fruit and desserts i think we're mainly for the majority of the visitors from that area not enough staff in dining room having to move pots of the table yourself you don't expect from a melia hotel chain the thing that really sticks in my mind is the staff when you go in your hols you expect smiles a greetings from the staff ,if , your in hospitally that's what it is all about but this hotel the hospitally was non existence .   I am genuinely baffled by some of these bad reviews. I can only put it down to people being extremely petty. If you want to find something to complain about, you will anywhere you go. But I honestly can’t think of anyone worth complaining about. The pools are spot on, plenty of sunbeds, and the beer is cold! What more do you need. The place is clean, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to bars, restaurants, drinks, food, snacks the lot. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, always take the time to say hello.The food is spot on, lots of choice and and options. It’s not al a carte, but when you’re providing for that many people you don’t expect Michelin star food, but the food is still very tasty.Evening entertainment is excellent and lots of variety within the shows. The water park!! Wow. So many slides, and pools! No queues and plenty of lifeguards about. If I had to find a complaint, and this would be for the sake of finding a fault, the toasters are too slow! And that’s just being picky! Great week away, will definitely be returning.   "Better get a Travelodge"

  Well. Where do I start.Hotel food - reputation is key, someone in a previous review referred to it as tripe, well yes, not far off.You can pre book the Italian but usually have to do his well in advance and only between 0900-1600, even though the night we went it was empty and wasn't much better than the hotel restaurant.We didn't try the Chinese as it just didn't sound great and the American Diner was "reserved" for Palace Hotel guests onlyHotel staff - no problem with the maids as the room was made up each day, however some of the catering staff and other members of staff seemed very abrupt/pushy and downright awful to deal with. They seemed very uninterested in whatever they were doing.Don't get me going on the towel lady exchange woman either.The 3 lifeguards at the top of the slides need some etiquette in not perving over under age girls. I don't know if they do such things as background checks in Bulgaria, I doubt it. We found the entertainment entertaining for all the wrong reasons. Like watching a Sooty and Sweep show on steroids.Indoor pool was OK, high in chlorine, needs some ventilation in there. My eyes were like scotch bonnet chillies after coming out.Rooms - 4 of us in a room, 2 adults and 2 kids.Beds were hard and not comfortable, adults have hip pains as a result, 4th bed was some sort of 3rd world bed laid out on a crate you get out the back of B&Q. Pools/Slides - compared to some hotels I found the pool cold but not freezing so was no issue getting in. Slides were OK, the bowl slide is only open 1100-1200 and 1400-1500 for reasons unknown and the Slides shut promptly at 1230 for an hour for lunch although it was more like 1220.All Slides close promptly at 1630hrs.Smoking is permitted round the pool - not my idea of fun.The sea view - well you can see the sea but really you need to go to the beach to see it properly. The views from the waterpark area are obscured by trees that need cutting back.There are games rooms that all cost you extra, but again these are not of a particularly high standard.Plenty of sunbeds but gets your towels out early.Would I go back - NoDid I enjoy my Bulgarian experience - not really.Do I think TUI should rate it as 4* - NoWas the weather good - yes mostly.Hopefully you'll find this honest review useful.My tips - the locals will try and rip you off over anything from taxi fares to food and drink, agree fares before you get in and check any bills for grub before paying.Stand your ground and keep an eye on your kids, particularly girls who look older than they are.Use the local supermarkets for goods.   More bad than good.

  Unfortunately this supposedly 4 star hotel fell short on a number of key points which means I will not return & would not recommend it. The waterpark is really the only thing my family liked about the hotel. Beds in the rooms are very hard & the 4th childs pull out bed was awful. The mattress about 3cm deep placed on what looked like wooden pallets. The bed was not even and different levels so completely inadequate. We complained & got given another thin mattress to put on top. This extra mattress was removed a couple of days later by the room cleaner. We complained again & then got given a lumpy mattress.... not fit for purpose. Eventually after dragging the lumpy mattress to the front desk & basically embarrassing the hotel into action we were finally given a proper thickness mattress. My point is... we should not have had to go to such lengths to get the issue resolved. The pull out bed provided is just not acceptable in quality. Food - struggled most days to find things we liked. It was pretty basic & not great quality and bland in taste. Staff - Unfortunately I found a lot of staff to be rude and unhelpful. The guys in the beach bar were particularly rude along with the towel exchange lady. The lifeguards were very inappropriate in their interactions with young girls who were clearly children, I saw one of them slapping a young teen girl on the backside. Not appropriate.   Bulgaria not for us - Sol Nassebar Bay not 4*

  Good points:-Water park Good for kidsPools not too coldSea temperature GoodBad points:-Food not great- lots of pork, quite blandBeds pretty awful - hard and lumpy mattresses giving uncomfortable nights sleep, 4th bed built on a wooden crate.Staff grumpy as if they don't want to be here Many uneven surfaces and trip hazards.Very regimented - things only open at certain times of day.Plug socket in room dangerously exposedPeople smoking in rooms - mainly Eastern EuropeansBulgaria in general:-Avoid.Try to rip you off for things like taxis - stand your groundVery Russian like - quite grumpy and rudePlaces are cash only but don't advertise it.Bar staff touch your kids - quite alarmingOut of resort restaurants are bland and staff rude.
