An utterly charming oasis in wonderful Siem Reap.

    rating17 Apr 2026

This charming hotel is a little oasis in the middle of the Siem Reap is one of the loveliest hotels I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. From the minute you walk into the open reception you feel welcomed and at peace, it just has a very special atmosphere. We stayed in a twin deluxe room with a rooftop terrace with awesome air con! If you want a slick, sleek, anonymous corporate space you won’t like the Rambutan, if you want a boutique hotel that oozes tradition and character, with creaky doors, antique tiles, beautifully crafted eclectic furnishings and a little bit of authentic wear and tear in places then you will love it. The stairs to many of the upper floor rooms are very steep so this needs to be a consideration if you have mobility problems but otherwise the hotel is perfect. The pool area is a delight. Essential for cooling down in the Cambodian heat, the great bar staff who rustle up a delicious Rambutan mojito, are super friendly but not at all intrusive. The hotel restaurant sits poolside. Every scrap of food that we had from there was delicious. Breakfast is cooked to order, as much as you want, a great improvement on wasteful western buffet style offerings. Coffee was the best I had in hotels on our trip and snack foods from the kitchen in the heat of the afternoon were all perfectly prepared. The planting around the pool gives it that hidden oasis quality and it just oozes style and relaxation. The small lounge areas in reception are lovely places to sit and wait for your tuktuk or simply enjoy an afternoon drink before you venture out and see more of this fabulous city. The Rambutan is an LGBTQ+ friendly space. That is clear when you stay as many of the guests were same sex couples, however there were families (I stayed with my eldest daughter) and heterosexual couples too. It’s an inclusive not exclusive space and it’s part of its charm. We stayed in two other similar hotels in other towns during our stay in Cambodia, all were lovely but Rambutan was by far my favourite, possibly in my top three favourite hotels ever!It has a certain quality, a charm or essence that is difficult to define. It’s a retreat that welcomes you with open arms and embraces you..when you couple that with the fabulous place that is Siem Reap, it’s a combination that tugs at the heart. I rarely return to places, there is so much of the world to see, but we were so sad to leave Siem Reap & Rambutan and I can already feel it calling me back! Go, enjoy yourselves, try the Rambutan mojito, relax by the pool and give Yuki, the hotels Shiba Inu and gentle tickle behind the ear from me.

    Excellent Boutique Hotel

    rating26 Mar 2026

We had a wonderful stay at the Rambutan. It’s not fancy but boutique.Comfortable well equipped rooms, surrounding a big pool, close to the centre of Siem Reap but in a peaceful area. Excellent breakfasts, cooked to order and with the very best coffee (as would be expected of Dutch management!). I can’t praise the staff enough, from being picked up at the airport to being dropped off, they were always smiling and couldn’t do enough for us. The guys behind the bar were always up for a good laugh.

Lovely Khmer hotel in central location

    rating09 Feb 2026

A lovely hotel in traditional Khmer style. Staff were helpful and friendly. Location is central Siem Reap, which did mean there was some noise at night, however the aircon and fan masked it quite well. Pool area is lovely, perfect place to relax after a long day touring the temples. Great choice for breakfast and generally the food was good and reasonably priced. I would recommend to stay here.

    Retraction

    rating04 Feb 2026

Yesterday I left a review about a problem with hot water for showers. It has been fixed and was an isolated incident. Works very well now. That was the only real issue with an otherwise great place. Enjoy your stay there!!

Not the place for a hot shower

    rating03 Feb 2026

Not a terrible place. Starting to need some maintenance and upgrading. If you like hot showers, it's not for you. I asked 2 times to resolve the lack of hot water. I was told it needs to run for a while before you get hot water. I ran the shower for 15 minutes, still lukewarm warm if you're lucky. Stayed 3 days and never had a hot shower. There are much better options at this price point.
