Location

This hotel is built around Kempenfelt Bay, located on Lake Simcoe in the heart of the Georgian Lakelands. It is located approximately 90 km north of Toronto via Highway 400, a six-lane, controlled-access highway that runs directly through the city of Barrie, placing it on Toronto's doorstep. Barrie has something to suit all tastes, including a large selection of eclectic dining establishments and ethnic restaurants featuring culinary creations from around the world. The nearest shops are around 2 minutes’ drive away. Nearby places of interest include Barrie Molson Centre (around 5 minutes’ drive), Georgian College and MacLaren Art Centre (each around 20 minutes’ drive) and Simcoe County Museum (around 25 minutes’ drive away).

Facility

The hotel has 28 junior suites, 9 suites, 4 single rooms and 41 double rooms, which are located on 4 storeys and are reachable by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock.     Make no mistake, this is an older hotel BUT it was clean, staff were friendly. With any older hotel the paint is fading and chipping, the carpet is worn and the elevator is brutally slow. Oh did I mention the ice machine (the only ice machine) is on the first floor. My take, a quick walk down the stairs to get ice is not a big deal.The breakfast was real food and hot ( sausage and eggs, waffles , bagel toast etc) and good coffee. Location to restaurants and shopping is excellent. Hey you can open windows for fresh air. Bonus! Been before and will be back again.

    We've stayed here twice now. Once in December 2024 and then this weekend. It's a great hotel. Budget friendly, family friendly. The breakfast is excellent and the rooms are comfortable. There's lots to do close by. Shopping, fast food, sit down restaurants (Jack Astor's and East Side Mario's within walking distance), groceries (Farm Boy, Walmart, Dollarama), LCBO. I highly recommend this hotel! We will always stay here if we're in the area and need overnight accommodation.

    Great location in Barrie right off the 400 in south end. Farm Boy is across the street and Walmart and restaurants are walking distance. The beds are very uncomfortable. It felt like you were sleeping on a rock mattress. If sleeping well is important to you, you may want to consider another hotel. If you can sleep on anything, then you're good. Children tend to run loose in this hotel and parents (and hotel staff) do not keep them under control. Keep this in mind as sport teams frequently stay here. Breakfast was good and simple.

    The staff at this hotel were rude and not accommodating. They put money over the human element, no caring what so ever. I tried to speak to a manger but got the excuse of there wasn’t one in today. I will never recommend this motel to family of friends, in fact I will go out of my way to make sure no one stays here that I know. Please do a better job Super 8, a little caring goes a long way.
