  Best Western PLUS, Okotoks is MINUS Full Breakfast; Management Fails to Provide Breakfast, as Advertised

  We pay a little more to have a hotel that includes breakfast. BWP says they provide a full breakfast We were told, by the server, that breakfast wasn’t available for us and several other couples, because their new full service restaurant wasn’t expecting so many people to stay for breakfast, on the long weekend, and the kitchen was backed up and ran out of food. The next day, we were given a $20 credit which certainly was not sufficient to go buy a full breakfast for two in any restaurant. Their new restaurant is pretty but it is poorly managed. After hearing several reasons for not getting our breakfast, a manager finally contacted us a day later and said a staff member had been injured and needed to be attended to, so breakfast had to be shut down. Since no ambulance came to the hotel, I suspect, if this new excuse were true, they could have found some way to help the person and still continue to have the restaurant serve the promised/advertised breakfast. We would not return to this hotel simply because of how breakfast was handled. We sincerely apologize for the disruption to breakfast service during your stay and understand your disappointment with the experience.As discussed with you on the morning of your departure, our team was managing a medical emergency involving an employee at that time. In order to properly attend to the situation, breakfast seating was temporarily paused while staff responded. To clarify, the interruption in service was not due to a shortage of food or because we were unprepared for the number of guests staying at the hotel. The situation involved the wellbeing of a team member, and while not all medical emergencies require emergency services, we felt it was important to provide immediate assistance. Breakfast service resumed a short time later once the matter was resolved.We would also like to clarify that efforts were made to speak with you prior to your departure. While our Management Team was unavailable at approximately 9:30 a.m., our Guest Services Agent advised you that management would be available after their meeting at 10:00 a.m. A member of the Management Team did come to meet with you at that time, however you had already checked out and left the property. We then contacted you promptly afterward to further discuss the situation and provide additional context.Additionally, compensation was provided regarding the complimentary breakfast included with your stay. On the morning of checkout, we adjusted your bill to reflect the value of breakfast for two guests. We also extended the opportunity for you to enjoy additional breakfast options the following morning at no additional charge, which you did choose to enjoy without issue.Unlike a standard self-serve continental breakfast, our breakfast service is offered through our full-service restaurant, where meals are freshly prepared to order by our kitchen team using local ingredients and farm fresh eggs. While we are proud to provide a higher-quality dining experience, this type of service can occasionally be more affected by unforeseen operational circumstances.While we respect your right to share your experience online, we are disappointed that several statements made publicly do not accurately reflect the circumstances or the efforts made by our team to address the situation appropriately and fairly.We do appreciate you choosing to stay with us during your travels and hope you had a safe trip home to Saskatchewan.

  Neglected Hotel

  We stay at this BW quite regularly, but it has gone down hill so much we wont be back. Currently Jan/2026 we have been here for 3 days, the front sliding door has been broken the entire time so guests have to force it open to enter. There has not been any snow removal out side since we arrived. The kitchen is shut down so the breakfast which this location is usually pretty cheap on anyways is even cheaper. In a room for 2 people we have 1 bath towel, no clock, no pen and paper. There is also a very loud motor sound from the hallway ceiling just outside our room. While trying to discuss this downward trend with a hotel staff member she just smirked. This was the same staff woman that was running and playing some kind of game with kids as they screamed through the hall. It should be called "Harry's Motor Lodge" as it does not deserve the name Best Western. I am very sorry to hear that your recent stay did not meet your expectations, especially as a returning guest. Please accept our apologies for the issues you experienced during your stay. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience of the front door not opening automatically when you arrived on Friday evening. Unfortunately, a drive belt snapped during the extreme cold early on Friday morning. A repair company attended that same day; however, the required part had to be ordered and wasn't scheduled to arrive until early the following week. Regarding breakfast, all items are prepared fresh each morning in our breakfast room. We are currently renovating our dining area as part of an effort to enhance the guest experience, and we welcome any suggestions on how we could improve our hot grab & go breakfast service during this time.With respect to snow removal, for the comfort of all guests, we are unable to shovel prior to 7:00 a.m. on weekends as the noise can be disruptive to those who are sleeping. We apologize if this caused any inconveniences for you.I am especially concerned to hear about your interaction with our staff, as this does not reflect the level of service we expect to provide. We checked the security cameras from your stay and noticed that the person you mention was not a member of our staff, but a parent of a child staying at the hotel.We truly appreciate your loyalty and your feedback, as it helps us identify areas that need improvement.

  Wonderful experience at best western okokatoks alberta.This hotel is clean and was decorated so beautiful for Christmas an.amazing effort to create a warm inviting Christmas feel. The staff was wonderful so friendly and accommodating.. I was helped by Jun and mairiAnd they really made our experience 100%They have coffee tea available and ready for you .They are breakfast option and serve you with a smile. Very comfortable setting in this hotel. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable.I will be booking again for sure and I highly recommend this hotel to others you will not be disappointed.   A great stopover at the Okotoks Best Western Inn and Suites!

  This was a wonderful stopover on our way to the U. S. for a short getaway. We didn’t want to be driving for 10-12 hours straight through, so broke up the drive from Edmonton to Idaho by staying in Okotoks overnight.   Just ok, not great.

  It’s the only game in Okotoks so we really don’t have much of a choice but to stay here. We spent 6 nights in a king room with kitchenette without any major problems. The room was large, we were able to control the temp to our liking and it was very dark when the shades were drawn. The bathroom is a little tight, housekeeping is every other day but you can ask for what you need. I would prefer higher wattage light bulbs, the room was extremely dim even when all the lights were turned on. Is it clean? Don’t know, too dim to tell. I asked for a late checkout of 1pm and was told there would be a charge for that, I’d understand if the hotel was sold out and they needed to turn over the rooms but there were less than 10 cars in the parking lot. They did offer me free until noon??? 1 more hour would have killed them? This is the type of decision that kills the desire for brand loyalty, Marriott/Hilton brands need to come to town.
