    We often stay at the Sandman Hotel & Suites Calgary South on 11th St SE as they are a 2 minute drive from the VCA Animal Hospital.We cannot say enough about the service that we receive every time that we go there. They allow dogs and always take the extra care to accommodate us making sure that our room is always near an exit, not just to ensure that other guests are not inconvenienced, but it truly makes it so much easier when you have an animal.From the person at the front desk making the reservation, the person that cleans the room, to the person who is constantly cleaning those floors as well as management, the kindness and care that comes from every personnel is second to none.The location is amazing. They are right behind IKEA in Calgary, there are restaurants within the hotel and within walking distance. Walmart, Costco and Superstore are a stone throw away.If you do have a dog, the Sue Higgins Dog Park is a 5 minute drive from the hotel. The parking lot may be full, but once inside the dog park, it never seems like there are a lot of people because it is so big. So conveniently close to the Chinook Centre and so many other places. Easy to get on the highway and head to BanffWe have travelled a lot and we just love going back to this location. We highly recommend it.We just spent the weekend there as we had to take our dog to see the dermatologist at the VCA hospital. We wanted to do a special mention to one of the employees working at the front desk who was absolutely amazing. His name is Shevaun (I hope that I am spelling that correctly). He did everything in his power to make our stay as comfortable as possible and accommodated us in every way possible. He found the time to talk to me and even genuinely laughed at my humour.Thank you Shevaun, your outstanding service has not gone unnoticed.     Great location but old and dirty rooms.

    Location was great for us. Only a 10 minute drive to chinook centre. And right across the street from Ikea! Nice having Denny’s and Moxies attached to hotel for convenience. The pool was very very basic and not very kid friendly. Relatively clean in the pool area. The room with kitchenette we stayed in quite small. Rooms are old and I found it to be quite dirty. The rug was so gross and almost sticky could feel it on my feet. Overall 3.5 stars I would say. Staff was friendly at front desk.     Lots of good stuff but not enough to return

    The location, amenities, front desk service and price were all very good. The housekeeping however was terrible. Bed was not made and dirty glasses and coffee pot were not replaced. Would have been helpful to have a mirror (full length) in the room itself for 2 adults to get ready.     This hotel was a bit too far out, you can't walk to the stores. The taxi service is very prompt and cheap. The accommodation is very comfortable and staff are friendly and efficient.     My wife and I stayed here on a referral from the VCA Animal Care Hospital. Our dog was having surgery and this hotel offered a compassionate rate and was close to the clinic. We were VERY happy with our stay! We were in room 106 (pet friendly) on the main floor. It had a king size bed in a separate room with a pocket door, a TV, closet and dresser, then a kitchen area with sink, dishes, microwave, fridge, toaster, and kettle. There was also a separate living area with a small couch, 2 chairs, coffee tables, and a TV. The room was steps away from an ice machine, the pool and fitness centre, coin laundry, and a side entrance which was convenient to take our dog in and out. Everything was very clean! All hotel staff were friendly and professional. We ordered room service from Moxies one night and it was delicious and served fresh. We were so comfortable here for 3 nights. Walmart is across the parking lot so great to get some groceries and snacks. IKEA is across another road so easy to walk over for small items. We would definitely stay here again! It was our dog’s first time in a hotel and she settled in great.
