Location

This hotel is located in the heart of Montreal, just a short distance from the tourist centre of the city. A colourful selection of restaurants and bars, as well as shops and a public transport stop are to be found in the immediate vicinity. Bonaventure railway station and a nightclub can both be reached in about 5 minutes drive and a skilift lies an around 20-minute walk from the hotel.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 252 rooms, including junior suites, 81 suites, 63 single rooms and 107 double rooms, located in a 28-storey main building and a 20-storey auxiliary building. Guests are warmly welcomed by English- and French-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities available at the hotel include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and drinks machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. A lift and wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park (for a fee). Further services include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, medical assistance, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service and a coin-operated laundry. A bicycle hire service provides all the necessary equipment for exploring the surrounding area. The business centre is on hand for guests' business requirements and provides a fax machine.

Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. All rooms are carpeted and have a double bed, a queen-size bed, a king-size bed or a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe and a desk are also available. There is a fully-equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator, mini fridge, stovetop, microwave, tea/coffee station and oven. Further amenities include an ironing set and a tumble dryer. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, an alarm clock and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. A hairdryer and bathrobes are provided in the bathrooms, which include a shower and a bathtub. As a special feature, bathrooms are also stocked with cosmetic products and a selection of towels. Some of the wheelchair-friendly rooms have a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. The hotel has family rooms, non-smoking rooms and smoking rooms.

Sport

Guests can go for an energising swim at the freshwater pool complex (in part heated). Sun loungers and parasols are available on the sun terrace. There are many ways to relax or stay active at the hotel, including cycling/mountain biking, golf, a gym and aerobics. Ski lifts provide easy access to the pistes.

Meals

Various dining options are available, including a breakfast room, a café and a bar. The non-smoking restaurant provides high chairs for children. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At dinner, guests can order à la carte. Set menus are available at dinner. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The hotel also offers special catering options.

    My son and I stayed here for a quick trip through Montreal. The convenient on-site parking was a definite plus. The hotel was clean and the room was well appointed and quiet. Beds were comfy. The hotel’s location was also convenient. Overall we were very pleased.

    We had a great stay at La Cantlie and would happily recommend it to friends and family.The Room:We stayed in a Junior Suite as a family of four with two teenagers (both over 6 feet tall), and space was never an issue. The room was very clean, well laid out, and felt comfortable rather than cramped — which isn’t always easy to find when traveling with older kids. The in-room amenities were good quality, and a small but appreciated detail: the towels were thick and fluffy, not the rough, worn kind you sometimes get at hotels.One thing we really liked was the branding throughout the room — La Cantlie logos on the towels and cushions gave the space a more upscale, boutique-style feel instead of a generic hotel vibe.Staff & Service:Front-desk staff were consistently professional, courteous, and welcoming. Check-in and any interactions we had felt smooth and well-handled.Dining:We had the breakfast buffet twice, and it had everything you’d want:CrepesScrambled eggsBaconHome friesFresh fruitA solid selection of continental pastriesA special mention goes to Arienne, our server during breakfast — she was extremely helpful and truly exceeded expectations. Her service made the mornings feel relaxed and enjoyable.We also dined at the restaurant one evening. The server that night was working solo, and while she clearly did the best she could, the service wasn’t as warm or courteous as we experienced elsewhere in the hotel. Understandable given the circumstances, but worth noting.Location:The location is a big plus. It’s very close to Mont Royal and within walking distance to Old Montreal, which makes sightseeing easy — especially if you enjoy exploring on foot.Overall:We were very satisfied with our stay in December 2025. Between the spacious room, cleanliness, quality amenities, and mostly excellent service, La Cantlie checked a lot of boxes for us. We’re already planning to return in the summer, when the weather is warmer and walking everywhere will be even more enjoyable.Tip: If breakfast is on your agenda, definitely take advantage of it — and if Arienne is working, you’re in great hands.

    Wonderful Stay in Montreal for mom's birthday!

    I had an amazing experience at this hotel during my stay in October 2025. The location is perfect — close to downtown attractions, restaurants, and public transportation.The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and the staff went above and beyond. When I mentioned it was my mom’s birthday, they kindly upgraded our room to a better one, which made the celebration even more special.All of the hotel staff were exceptional — friendly, professional, and always ready to help with recommendations or any questions.     We are here now, have stayed previously and it was great, we were excited to come back but I must say this room is below par, tired and a bit grubby. Very disappointed as came with my daughter to meet my other children who are studying at McGill. The carpet is old, the bathroom is tiny and badly in need of repair.     We stayed 1 night, there for the Paul McCartney concert at The Bell Center. Everything was fabulous! The underground valet parking was super easy, friendly staff. The hotel check in took 2 minutes. Our room on the 17th floor faced Sherbrooke St, so a nice view of Mt. Royal. The room was very clean and had a comfy bed. No issues with any noise or room temperature. An easy 15 minute walk to the Bell Center. Check out was great too. I'd definitely recommend this hotel, great value and a super convenient location.
