    We stayed here for a girls weekend and were drawn into the idea of a boutique hotel instead of one of the large brands in Niagara. The lobby and restaurant were so cute and it looks like the outside area would be great in warmer weather. However, our room fell short of the charm. The rooms just need updating. We had booked a courtyard view room but were initially put in a room overlooking a dirt parking lot with no fridge. After going back to the front desk, we were able to switch to a courtyard view- this room had a fridge which was great but things were just worn. The wall paint had been touched up with a different color paint in several areas and it just felt a bit neglected. Overall, it was clean and a good walking location but we wouldn’t stay here again unless they upgraded the rooms.

    Old Stone Inn - Disappointing Overall

    I definitely needed a get away just overnight. I picked the Old Stone Inn because it looked lovely, was close to where I wanted to eat dinner and reasonably priced. The room was nice however, at about 9:00pm the heating system started to make a popping sound ever few moments. At 9:30pm I determined that I wouldn't be able to sleep throughout the night with that sound. Maintenance came but could not fix it. I was moved to another room, but maintenance couldn't get the heater to work and it was only blowing cold air. I was then moved to another room - it was about 10:30pm by this time. The only way the heating system would stay on was at 26 degrees or it would shut off. The heating system turned off in the night and didn't go on again. Luckily it wasn't too cold or I would have froze. When I checked out, they said they couldn't do anything for the inconvenience moving to 3 different rooms, but would not charge for parking. Disappointed in the hotel's response at check out. I don't think I'd stay there again.

    Old stone inn boutique hotel Niagara not as expected

    Location good, it’s a shame because the downstairs restaurant and bar looks amazing however, for a Saturday night they are not busy, The menu is very limited, tastes good but hummus consistency was too runny, presentation could have been better, short rib was fatty but tasted good and veg was not overcooked, pasta special was ok, just service very slow considering they only had two other tables occupied. Rooms are a different story, that’s a side of the property that needs significant investment, very tired, bad signal with the tvs, heating fan system noisy and now have to move room, no one seems to know how to switch on the gas fire. There’s a pool that looks nice and really only sizeable for the kids to enjoy, it’s not a fitness length pool. Staff very friendly but expensive for what it was so not sure we’ll go again. My husband is a hotelier so is on the same page. Have to say it is great to find a pet friendly hotel as there aren’t many at the falls.

    The worst experience

    I arrived at this hotel with the intention of having a pleasant night. I made a reservation through Booking.com, and the process of obtaining the room was very easy.Upon arrival at the hotel, I completed the check-in and went to the room that was assigned to me. As soon as I entered, I immediately noticed that the heating was not working. I contacted the front desk, they sent a technician, and he confirmed that the heating system was not functioning.Because of this, we were moved from room 242 to room 335. I arrived at the new room, left my luggage, and went out to dinner, trusting that everything would be fine.When I returned around 2 a.m. to sleep, I noticed bodily fluids on the bed sheets. I called the front desk, and they sent someone to change the sheets. However, this person began questioning me, implying that I had dirtied the bed, when in reality I had not even spent more than five minutes in the room since it was given to me.I informed the front desk staff that I could not trust the cleanliness of the hotel and that I did not feel comfortable, so I decided to request a refund since I did not make use of the room. I contacted a Booking.com agent, but they did not resolve the issue and only added 16 points to my account as compensation for the inconvenience.Honestly, I find this situation unacceptable. I would like to receive a full refund and leave the rating that this hotel truly deserves, so that no one else has to go through such an unpleasant experience.
