Le Saint-Édouard aka Best Western Centre Ville

    rating23 May 2026

We stayed at Le Saint Edouard in May 2026. We booked it as a Best Western as that is a brand we know and trust. Unbeknownst to us they changed the name to Le Saint Eduouard which was confusing to us and our Uber driver. Guest services were very nice. The room was nice clean and comfortable. We stayed overnight before a cruise. They stored our luggage so we could explore Quebec City because we arrived early. When we came back from exploring we sat in the lobby for awhile and many people approached the front desk to enquire as to whether it was a Best Western. We went out for dinner and when we returned we decided to go to the restaurant for a drink. A glass of red wine was $24 (opened bottle) a beer was $12. We sat at the bar and watched a young person make meals for those who ordered food. He was quick and efficient. He heated premade spaghetti in a fry pan and added sauce from a large container. We watched a lot of food prep (minimum 10 meals) in the hour or so we were there. What was a bit of a surprise (because I have food handlers certification) he did not wash his hands once between preparing different meals with soap and water. He touched the food of different meals with his hands on several occasions. He only wiped his hands on a cloth that was sitting in the food prep area. The restaurant might want to move food prep to the kitchen so the cook has access to soap and water and that the customers sitting at the bar don’t have to sit at the bar watching a guy bobbing up and down preparing food.

Super Clean Hotel in Saint Roch Neighborhood

    rating12 May 2026

Although I initially booked through Best Western, this hotel is now known as Le Saint Edouard. My adult daughter and I stayed on the fifth floor with an atrium view--perfect for us, because it was consistently quiet and not lit up like high noon early in the morning so we could wake up on our own schedule. Our room was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was spacious and included plenty of towels. The hand-held shower head/hose is my preferred type, so I was especially grateful for that feature. The focus on conservation and environmental awareness was impressive: on the shower wall were liquid soap/shampoo/conditioner dispensers, so no waste. Same near the sink: dispensers with liquid hand soap and moisturizing lotion.Waste cans and recycling buckets were provided so guests could place trash in waste cans and aluminum cans/bottles in recycling containers. Best of all, the employees of Le Saint Edouard were remarkably friendly, courteous, and appear to genuinely enjoy interacting with guests. The impressively bilingual front desk clerks--Xavier, Nicholas, and Yves--deserve special mention because they indulged my need to practice speaking French! When I reverted to English, so did they...and they answered all my questions thoroughly as well as helped me with a couple of specific requests (e.g. there was a mini-fridge in our room, but not a microwave, so I asked if there was a place to warm up some leftovers and was told they'd take care of it for me. Same with mailing out postcards. And asking for directions to a couple of places). The housekeepers--particularly Veronica-- were always busy cleaning rooms, ours included. In the post-pandemic travel world, finding a true 'budget' hotel that is spotlessly clean, in a safe location, and has friendly employees is like finding a needle in a haystack, but that's exactly what I found at Le Saint Edouard. A true hidden gem.Bonus feature: Le Saint Edouard is in the St. Roch neighborhood, which is filled with cafes, patisseries, restaurants, the famous Librairie Pantoute, and of course, the landmark St. Roch Catholic Church. An authentic Quebecois neighborhood with super nice folks at every turn. Highly recommend.

Disappointing experience at Best Western Hotel Centre-Ville Québec

    rating08 Feb 2026

Disappointing experience at Best Western Hotel Centre-Ville QuébecAfter a 27-hour international flight, I arrived at the hotel around midnight with a fully paid and confirmed reservation via Booking.com.To my surprise, I was told at the front desk that the hotel was fully booked and that they could not honor my reservation. No alternative accommodation, no solution, and no meaningful assistance were offered. The hotel staff insisted the issue was with the booking platform. However, after contacting Booking.com immediately, they confirmed that my reservation was still active and valid on their system. This suggests a possible overselling of rooms, which left me stranded late at night, exhausted, and unsupported. What made the situation worse was the lack of accountability and empathy shown by the staff during a very stressful moment.I am sharing this to warn future travelers: even with confirmed and prepaid reservations, there appears to be a risk that the hotel may not be able to deliver — and assistance in such situations cannot be assumed.I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves both reservation integrity and front-desk crisis handling.

Horrible horrible location, over all package for the cost and front desk service

    rating10 Nov 2025

This hotel is overpriced priced for the lousy location and plain Jane rooms that they offered. The front desk service was horrible. The ladies were so rude and dismissive and unfriendly. I would not recommend this hotel. August is a busy season and you need to pay hundreds of dollars a night for a room, but do yourself a favour and book somewhere else. We stayed one night and then got the hell out.

    Dismal

    rating30 Oct 2025

Dismal. Disinterested front desk staff both at check in and check out. Task oriented, unsmiling, unhelpful when concern raised. My room was a broom closet with less appeal. I asked for a change. Clerk said no. Full. I asked for manager. Clerk said no. No one is on duty. All delivered coldly as if I am putting him out. I wrote concerns on feedback form, received a response that was seemingly AI generated and lacked any genuine connection. I put up with loads of construction over the years as they built this place because they rested my dog well - I will no longer return because basically it is staffed by clerks who tick boxes .To be clear, this is a organizational culture issue because that lack of enthusiasm reveals something with management / owner
