    Decent room for the price out of season

    Room was clean and decent the bathroom needed more towels. Coffee machine was out of order in the main lobby and no rebates with the Boston pizza inside the same building which could have been arranged. I normally like hotels that offer a free breakfast for all guests this one didn’t have that which would have probably boosted their stars. Staff was friendly and offered service in English which I appreciate. If you want savings out of season or holidays than this is the place to go. Not fancy but it serves its purpose.

    Universal Disappointment! Very Dirty & Dated

    If you want Customer Service do not stay here. We were not advised that if we wanted fresh towels & our room cleaned we had to go to the front desk to ask for room service ahead of time as they ignore the "Please Clean My Room" door handle signs !! They also refused to bring clean towels to our room. Nice room with old hard worn out mattress. I was looking forward to staying here as the pool & hot tub area looked so tropical & relaxing. It's in a great location & had 2 restaurants. It was very loud and many children were unsupervised. We have some mobility issues and use a cane & a walker, so we were surprised that this hotel was not very accessible in regards to No Button for automatic door opening, unexpected carpeted ramplike inclines that are not marked and are a safety concern especially when using the suitcase trolley, walkers, wheel chairs & canes. Need more railings beside ramps. We could only find one elevator for a hotel with over 100 rooms. Not very well staffed hotel & front desk did not provide good customer service. This hotel is rather dated with filthy stained carpets throughout, even in the event rooms...so disgusting. The lobby & hallways were humid. This hotel is best for young families with low expectations.

    Our family stayed one night at the Hotel Universel, as it was conveniently located on our itinerary. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly.It is a good affordable option for a short stay, and has a nice looking pool. The water was very warm, but the design makes it very difficult to swim in, so it better to soak in and relax.If visiting Quebec City, this will be further from local attractions and sites, but it worked well for our needs.

    We stayed here as part of a tour group - this is not a place we would have chosen.We had a room on the ground floor with a window out to the front. There are two blinds - neither of which closed fully and pretend curtains - both of which were missing hooks to connect them to the rail, so not blackout at all. The wooden flooring - well not actually wood but laminate, has been down too long and has been wet and therefore is not at it's best. The furniture loooks like it's from Ikea - possibly to go with the university population nearby. The bed was passable, as were the linens and pillows. The bathroom is a whole other matter. No shampoo just had hand soap. The towels were chldren size and not in particularly good condition - more old and thin. The air con worked fine, but was nosiy. There is no door sectioning the reception area from the rooms - you could hear all the noise from reception and of people / children running around and making noise. I would say find somewhere nicer and in a better location - particularly in, or close to the Old Town - much nicer.
