Way too expensive for what you get

    rating08 Sept 2025

Very disappointed in the room. It was located immediately beside the elevator so right off the bat I knew we were going to be dealing with foot traffic noise. However when we opened the door to the room, was also disappointed to discover that the room was actually built around the elevator shaft itself. There was a long hallway in the room (with the elevator located just on the other side) & then it opened up into a small space that contained the bed. And by small, I mean tiny, literally only about 4 feet wider than the queen-sized bed. There wasn't even enough floor room to lay our two suitcases flat on the floor. The top of the TV stand had not been cleaned as there was spilled pop & pop can rings on top which were sticky. There was no freezer section in the mini fridge to refreeze the gel packs for the food cooler we had left in our vehicle. In addition, the shower curtain top did not match the shower curtain bottom (one was longer than the other with more snaps on it) so they were unaligned & hung oddly. And to our frustration after a long day of traveling, the hotel hot tub was also out of service. In addition, the doors at the end of the halls do not have door key readers to get back in the building which is very inconvenient when parked at the end of the parking lot - must walk over the the main door to get back into the hotel. In essence, we paid full price for half a room with subpar cleaning & without full hotel amenities. This was the most expensive hotel on our road trip & the quality was way below the others & what I have come to expect from the Sandman hotel chain.

Short stay at the Sandman Hotel Quesnel

    rating30 Aug 2025

Stayed here overnight whilst travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer, this a very comfortable hotel with access to local restaurants nearby, due to arrival time we did not go out but were advised that they are good. The hotel staff are friendly and the rooms large and clean though it can be noisy due to being close to the expressway. On the whole a very good experience Brent T, General Manager at Sandman Hotel Quesnel, responded to this review Hello Colinswann120. Thank you for the glowing review of our location. I a glad that you enjoyed your short time in my hotel and hope that you may visit again in the future. Have a wonderful day, General Manager-Brent

    A welcome change

    rating23 Apr 2025

A welcome change after being further up north where the hotels are horrid. The host that checked us in was extremely friendly and helpful. Even had a treat for our dog. Our room was nice and clean and modern. The only reason I’m deducting a star is because of the state of the halls/windows. Every single one was extremely filthy. They should have the janitor cleaning the public spaces daily. Brent T, General Manager at Sandman Hotel Quesnel, responded to this review Hello GeocacheBC. Thank you for the 4/5 review of our location. I am glad that my team members were able to give friendly and efficient service. I will be taking your comments about the window cleanliness to my team and have that actioned right away. I do hope we get the pleasure of welcoming you back again soon. Have a great day.

Abysmal Location, no bar, no restaurant, nowhere to eat or drink in vicinity

    rating23 Sept 2024

I am writing this in the Sandman Hotel, Quensel over a lousy room-made coffee and a pack of stale Pringles. Read on to find out why. This hotel is nowhere. Surrounded by immense carparks for Walmart, 7-Eleven, Canadian Tire and the like. 6km from town. The hotel bar is closed, there’s no restaurant and nowhere to eat or drink anywhere in walking distance. You can’t count Denny’s, (read reviews of others to see why) but the hotel seem to think think this is an ok source of sustanance in absence of anything they have I’m guessing there’s some business relationship between this Denny’s and the hotel because you walk straight in from one to the other. That being the case you would hope for better from Denny’s given the lack of any facilities whatsoever in the hotel. The receptionist said Denny’s had got an alcohol licence specially while the hotel bar was being rebuilt so in desperation we walked in for just a drink. Denny’sThe place was as dire as the reviews said. A total of four down at heel people eating there, but we thought we might just get a quick drink and we’d be gone. Ordered a beer from a handwritten list on the desk clerk’s notepad and asked if they served wine. Yes the girl said in all seriousness, we've got red and I think we have white too. What white I asked and she said that she couldn’t pronounce it. I suggested she show us so she pulled a tatty wine box of Sauvignon Blanc from a bucket in the bottom of the fridge. God only knows how long that had been open but we were still prepared to risk it when the manager bustled up and said he wouldn’t sell alcohol if we weren’t eating there.!!! So we left and made do with a coffee in the room (Ancient filter machine) and a pack of Pringles saved from earlier. How a hotel with no bar or restaurant, located on an industrial estate with no outside facilities could rate 3 star I’ll never know. We were put in here by Rocky Mountaineer who would do well to ditch this place before it damages their reputation.

Stay with Sandman while in Quesnel!

    rating22 Sept 2024

My husband and I had reservations for middle of Sept 2024. We had reserved a pet room, but upon check in all double pet rooms were occupied so the Wonderful Jessica upgraded us to the Queen suite!! Freshly renovated and very very beautiful! Spacious, bright, super clean, well stocked kitchenette. The finishing in bathroom and throughout are very tasteful. Altho this location is undergoing renovations, we were perfectly comfortable and not inconvenienced by this at all. We visit Quesnel frequently and will most definitely be staying with this hotel! Brent T, General Manager at Sandman Hotel Quesnel, responded to this review Hello mygypsy8. Thank you for the glowing review of our property. I am so glad that Jessica was able to upgrade you into one of our suites and that you enjoyed the new and updated look of the room. I was happy to hear that the renovation project did not impact your stay as well. I do hope that we get the pleasure of welcoming you back again soon. Have a wonderful day, General Manager-Brent
