Meh. Not worth the price of admission.

    rating26 May 2026

We recently stayed at the Hotel Grand Pacific while my husband was in Victoria competing in the Ironman. Given the nature of the trip, getting a good night’s sleep and being comfortable in the room was extremely important to us.Unfortunately, the air conditioning in our room did not work properly during our stay. We reported the issue to the front desk and were told a technician would come take a look at it. However, when we returned to the room later, nothing had changed and the room was still uncomfortably warm. We ended up having to keep the patio door open just to get some airflow. We brought the issue up again at checkout, hoping there would at least be some acknowledgment or effort to make things right, but the response was basically just “sorry to hear that.” There was no compensation, follow-up, or real concern shown, which was disappointing considering the cost of the stay. The hotel itself also felt quite outdated. The decor throughout the property was very dark and dated, and overall it did not feel like the experience matched the price point we paid. That said, there were a few positives. The location is excellent and very convenient for exploring Victoria, and the food at Fathom restaurant was genuinely great. One other thing worth noting is parking costs. Self-parking is $28/day, while valet parking is $35/day.Overall, while the location and restaurant were highlights, the lack of responsiveness regarding the air conditioning issue and the dated feel of the hotel made the stay feel overpriced and not worth the money.

Nice place. A bit pricey for a dated hotel. AC didn’t work at all.

Disappointing end to our Canada trip

    rating19 May 2026

We booked the Hotel Grand Pacific because it was advertised as a luxury hotel in a prime location next to the Parliament Buildings, and we wanted to mark the last night of our trip with somewhere special. Unfortunately it fell well short. The room was run down, dirty and had a noticeable smell. Even after being upgraded, the carpets had stains, there was a broken plug socket, and the balconies were dirty. The mattresses are rock solid — we ended up requesting a topper, which was provided, but it made little difference. The aircon blows out warm air.The night before we stayed at the Delta in Victoria, which was significantly better and considerably cheaper, and literally across the bay. For the price point the Grand Pacific charges, and the way it markets itself, this hotel falls well short of expectations. The location is the only thing going for it.Would not stay again or recommend.

    Pleasant stay

Our family picked Victoria for a short spring break and my sister in-law booked the HGP. This hotel had the perfect harbour location and we were able to walk everywhere, we loved that. We had rooms with very comfortable double queens beds, very quiet location and amazing view. We arrived early (1:00 pm) and could not check in but were able to register and leave our bags, time to tour. When we did return at 4:00 pm, the front desk tried to take a second deposit, strange but we worked that out. Our biggest complaint was paying $28 for parking which was 2 block away and located on a small gravel lot. Most of the time the lot was full and with limited parking in the area, we were able to leave our SUV on hotel premises. Would we return, absolutely, but sort out your parking issue.

    Amazing restaurant. Rooms need modernising.

We spent a long time deciding between this hotel and the other well known one in Victoria. Ultimately we settled on this hotel having read the reviews about space. We paid for Signature Harbour View 1 bedroom Suite. It had two separated areas - one for living and one for sleeping. It had a dual aspect window overlooking the harbour and a side balcony. It was harbour facing but situated on the side, which considering we went for one of the more costly rooms, I was a little disappointed with as the view was restricted. The room itself was very dated. The carpets require significant cleaning. The door had areas painted in a different colour paint and the attention to details such as wonky light shades was disappointing. The breakfast in the Fathom restaurant was delicious. Really cannot recommend the granola enough!
