    Avoid room 501 - bad mattress!

    I did not have a good experience at this hotel, which was my second stay in 6 months. Firstly, avoid room 501 as the king mattress is uncomfortable with a huge dip on one side. But there’s more! Upon check in, I was surprised to learn the fitness centre and laundry were both closed during the renovations — I hadn’t been advised of this when booking nor via email when they sent my confirmation email — not cool. The public areas of the 5th floor (elevator lobby, hallways) were dirty due to the renovations. For the high price I paid for a room, I would have expected them to at least make an effort to vacuum the areas for the guests. The blue couches in the lobby are old and stained, which is also disconcerting as they are the first things you see when you walk in the hotel. And the AC in the room sounded like a truck engine so I had to turn it off. On the positive side, the hotel is located walking distance to an outlet mall, the room had no carpets, my stay was quiet, and they offered a scent-free room upon request. But that’s not enough for me to stay there again.

    Location was pretty good being close the the Outlet Mall, but the hotel is very basic for the price we paid $250-$300 per night. The primary reason for this poor review is that the hotel was undergoing construction. We stayed on the sixth floor and the hallway was an absolute mess. The loud banging started at 8am. There was no blocking out the noise. Management should not be booking rooms on floors undergoing active construction! Super disappointed.

    We have loved this hotel and have stayed there dozens of times over the years. It had always been great. Our last stay was a huge disappointment. We checked in after 7pm and were given a nice room but upon checking it, we discovered that the room was not cleaned after the last occupant. There was an open bottle of water, a used coffee cup, a partially used soap and the bathroom counter was sticky. The bed although sort of made up looked dirty and used. We called the desk and the desk person instead of offering to move us came up to check it. We showed her all the issues so we did get another room. This newly assigned room had mold in the shower and a counter not so clean. There was only one set of towels. Again not like we have come to know at this favorite hotel. Please do better so we will come back. We told the desk at check out and did get a significant discount. We weren’t looking for a discount but just wanted them to do better. Housekeeping needs work. This was never the case before.

    Nice place to stay and in a peaceful location in Winnipeg. Very good shopping within walking distance to the hotel. Have stayed before and will stay again.

    We stayed here for about 5 days as we were moving from the area. We thought we might get the buffet breakfast but never chose that as we usually went to McDonalds which was a nice walk. We also went to Krispy Kreme one morning! The location is GREAT: right next to the Outlet Mall and Ikea and close to other attractions.Although they are under construction, everything was still functioning: the pool is small but nice, the gym was good. We'd stay again for sure!
