Extremely Disappointing Experience – Lack of Accountability by Ownership

    rating28 Apr 2026

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience warrants it.The **Residence Inn by Marriott in Winnipeg** is a newer property and, at first glance, presents well. Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by a very concerning incident and an even more troubling response from management and ownership.During our stay, housekeeping removed a bag of clothes from our room. The items were placed in a standard white plastic bag typically used for dirty laundry—nothing unusual or easily mistaken for trash. These items were never returned. To their credit, hotel management acknowledged that the items were taken by housekeeping. However, the explanation provided by the staff member involved was inaccurate and did not reflect what actually occurred. Despite this, we were ultimately told that **ownership made the decision not to take any action to resolve the situation**.We made multiple attempts to address this through the proper channels, including requesting follow-up from management. A callback from the General Manager was requested but never occurred. When we did receive a call, it was from the Assistant General Manager, who confirmed that ownership had decided not to offer any resolution. The value of the missing items was relatively modest (approximately $100), so this was not an unreasonable request. There were many simple ways the situation could have been handled to maintain goodwill. Instead, the lack of accountability and unwillingness to make things right was disappointing.I have stayed in Marriott properties for over 25 years, typically 50–100 nights per year, and this is the first time I have experienced anything like this. More surprising than the incident itself was the complete absence of customer-focused resolution.Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this property, and I would strongly caution others when considering a stay here.

    Bedbug Paradise

    rating07 Nov 2025

I stayed at Residence Inn Winnipeg for four nights. On the first day, only a few hours after checking in, I woke up to a bug biting me in the bed. I immediately reported it to the front desk and showed them the bug. The hotel moved me to a different room, which I appreciated, but the incident was extremely uncomfortable and stressful. After I left, the hotel later emailed me stating that their pest control inspection found "no bed bug activity" in the room. However, this does not reflect my experience, as I personally found the bug in the room and was bitten. It was upsetting to receive a response that suggested it could have come from my belongings rather than acknowledging what occurred during my stay. The staff were polite throughout my stay, and the location is convenient, but the overall experience left me feeling uneasy and concerned about cleanliness and the handling of the situation.I hope the hotel takes this seriously and improves room inspection and follow-up communication with guests who report issues. Because of what happened, I unfortunately cannot recommend this hotel.

    Great family friendly place

    rating13 Mar 2025

Took the kids for the weekend for something to do during a cold weekend. Really enjoyed it. The water park kept the kids busy. Rooms were really nice, clean spacious. The kitchenette was very impressive as it was fully stocked with cook wear and utensils. Continental breakfast was real good, lots of options. Would defiantly return

No Exercise Bikes in Fitness center

    rating17 Aug 2024

This hotel has a large fitness center - but no exercise bikes of any kind. 3 ellipticals, 4 treadmills, and zero bikes. Stayed at lots of Marriott's, lots of other hotels, and every hotel advertising a fitness center has at least one exercise bike. The fitness center was one reason I chose this hotel, I need an exercise bike to help with a bad back. Not sure who chose the equipment for the fitness center, but 7 pieces of equipment with no bikes makes no sense No complaints about the room, it is a relatively new hotel. But there are lots of hotel's with fitness centers in Winnipeg that have bikes, won't be back to this hotel.

    Winnipeg Long Weekend

    rating23 Feb 2024

Our family of 4 stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott Winnipeg in early September 2023. We stayed in a 1-bedroom King suite. The hotel was clean. The bed was comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was good (eggs, meat, waffles, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, juice, etc.). The pool was fun for my kids; the water slide is fast. We did not use the gym. There was always plenty of parking space. The hotel location is safe and within driving distance to several restaurants. There was a noticeable multicultural vibe (customers and staff) at the hotel. Since we are a bi-racial family, that was fine with us. No problems here. I recommend this hotel.
