Okay, If The Price Is Low

    rating23 Feb 2020

The Bella Habana Hotel, which is near the airport, is okay but not much more than okay. During my stay I found the room to be clean and the service was very good. The staff and front desk were polite and helpful. My room faced the road so I do not find it restful even from the fourth floor. The safe was not working. It took a while to get 'warm' water for the shower. There is not much in the area. There is one decent restaurant which is about a ten minute walk. You need to take taxis all the time to get to decent restaurants or to get to the centre of Havana.Unless you get this in a low price package it is not worth going to.

    I will DEFINITELY be back!

A warm welcome, great service, friendly staff, and a clean comfortable room made my stay at the Hotel Bella Habana Aeropuerto a real pleasure. Across from the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Transportation, and around the corner from Police Headquarters, the hotel seems to be a business destination for travellers from across Cuba and South America....made for lively conversation in the cozy bar. Only a 40 minute walk from Old Havana and the Malecon, only a 10 minute walk from the Plaza de Revolucion and the heart-stoppingly beautiful monument to José Marti, it was convenient and very "non-touristy" which I love. The breakfast was filling, with cheese and meats and eggs and fruit and the best darn coffee I've tasted in a long time. The dining room was closed for reservations, but I am looking forward to eating there the next time I come.My room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the air conditioning was heavenly, and the shower was hot! I would recommend this as a good hotel for those people heading to Havana!Thank you to the staff for your kindness and help....I promise my Spanish will be better next time! :)

    Not ideal for holiday stay

    rating26 Dec 2018

Stayed from Dec 17 - 24, 2018 - Sunwing cheap vacation package. I was debating on whether to write something about this property or not, but considering i took this hotel package due to the reviews, i felt i had to give my own take on this - lesson learned. This is not a holiday hotel, I have been coming to havana many times now and i think i got the "lay of the land" by now. I should have listened to my instinct, instead of the "polite" reviews. 1) NO hot water in the morning it only comes sometime in the afternoon at about 5 pm - don't be deceived by 50 Deg sign, as its only warm not hot, shower head have no wall mouth 2) Toilet is disgusting 3) NO 110 volt the entire hotel, only 220 volts, all outlets in my room 418 have visible signs of burn, i did not risk charge my phone. 4) Plastic drapes on the windows, the one photo published is i think their luxury suite 5) Not in good location, this is way off the city center, no restaurant, nor anything within miles - taxi is 10 CUC one way, that could easily eat up on your reserves without getting anything 6) I am not sure what they meant by service in some of the review here, as there is none, actually i found it a hostile environment, as staff are more into their own affairs rather than the paying costumers, they do it in their own terms, but as i said i've seen this may times over, this is cuba, but here i draw the line, i think paying guess should start demanding their due, enough of this being "polite" as they think this it is OK to be rude. As i said this is not a holiday hotel, this is STRESSED hotel, do not even consider this property, even for free, not worth your precious holiday time and money - there is nothing good here.

    Real Havana experience

    rating25 Apr 2018

2nd visit to Cuba. 1st visit was to a beautiful resort on Cayo Ensanachos. The second trip I stayed at this hotel to get a 'feel' for the real Cuba and the real Havana. The hotel was bare-bones but functional. Included breakfasts were good and the service was always friendly. Most of the other hotel guests were travelling Cubans. There were very few tourists at the included breakfasts.Access to downtown old Havana is a little pricey at 10-15 CUC each way but I discovered the Red Tourist bus that runs from the Plaza de Revolution every 20 minutes during the day. (Plaza de Revolution is a 15-minute walk from the hotel.)To go directly to downtown and to avoid the northern loop that passes by many hotels, board the bus at the bus-stop across the street from the parking lot for Plaza de Revolution. Do NOT board the bus IN the parking lot, as it will be travelling away from downtown. The hotel does not have WiFi yet, but it's 'brother' hotel 5 minutes away by foot, does have WiFi in the garden area.To use any of the WiFi access points, you will need to buy a WiFi access card at 1-2 CUC per hour. (1CUC at the official vendor offices downtown; 2CUC for the same card if purchased at a hotel.)

A inexpensive hotel but you have to be prepared for some privation

    rating31 Mar 2018

I stayed in this hotel for the first week of March 2017. The hotel is located about 5 km from Old Havana and would require a taxi (10 cuc$) to go there if you want to visit this part of the city. There is bus stops at both sides of the street but you have to know the bus system and routes. Room is at the lower end .of comfort and amenities by western standards. Air conditioning works ok but the problem is with the water. The water pressure is so low that sometimes you wonder if it is going to stop. Then one evening there wasn't any running water till the next morning. You also need about 2 minutes to get hot water. I learned later that this is a common problem in Havana with average hotel because of the inadequacies of the city water distribution system. If you stay here, ask for a room overlooking the backyard as it is much more quiet than the frontside which see lots of traffic on the main street. And always stock bottles of water for toilet in case there is shortage of water.
