  Little Disappointing, but Amazingly great

  We recently stayed at Dreams Onyx Punta Cana for our wedding weekend and overall had a wonderful experience. We booked through a travel agent and brought a large group of family and friends, with over 16 rooms reserved at the resort.First, I want to recognize the staff because they truly made our stay memorable. Every single person we encountered—from housekeeping, concierge, bellmen, butlers, restaurant staff, and management—was kind, patient, attentive, and welcoming. They treated us like family and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable throughout our stay.A special thank you to our butler, Albert. He was absolutely amazing! He checked on us multiple times a day, made sure we had everything we needed, and was always available to assist. His attentiveness and genuine care made a huge difference in our experience.The resort itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and very relaxing. The grounds are gorgeous, and the atmosphere made our wedding weekend feel special and stress-free.That being said, I was disappointed with how our group booking was handled. Although we booked over 16 rooms at the resort due to our Wedding we did not receive any special accommodations. One thing I want to clarify is that our wedding ceremony and reception were held at an off-site venue rather than at Dreams Onyx itself. The resort explained that because we were not hosting our wedding on the property, they were unable to provide wedding-related upgrades or special accommodations. While I understand and respect their policy, I was still a little disappointed given that our group booked over 16 rooms at the resort for the wedding weekend. I had hoped there might be some type of courtesy upgrade, recognition, or special touch to acknowledge the size of our group and the occasion.We booked the lowest room category and asked if there was any possibility of an upgrade, but were told no. The only option offered was to pay an additional $500 for Preferred Club access while remaining in the same room category. That was disappointing. To make matters more frustrating, we later learned that one of our guests received a complimentary upgrade to a Preferred Club room after experiencing a two-hour check-in delay. While we were happy for our friend, it was difficult not to feel overlooked considering the number of rooms we brought to the resort.I was also a little saddened that we didn't receive any of the special door decorations that we saw throughout the resort for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and Preferred Club guests. It would have been a nice touch to acknowledge our wedding celebration.Another area that could be improved is the air conditioning. Our room was preset to 70 degrees, and despite reporting that it felt too warm several times, we were unable to get the room comfortably cool at night. Maintenance did respond and adjusted it slightly, but it still remained warmer than we would have liked.As for the food, we were pleasantly surprised. We didn't have a single bad meal during our stay.Our favorite spots included:• Coco Café – Absolutely fantastic! The coffee, snacks, and convenience of being open 24 hours made it a favorite for many of our guests.• Scores Sports Bar – This was a huge hit. I was able to reserve a section for my husband, his groomsmen, and several wedding guests to watch a Knicks game as part of their bachelor party festivities. The supervisor who helped coordinate everything was incredibly accommodating and made the experience seamless.• Capers (Italian Restaurant) – Delicious food and one of our favorite dinners. The only downside was the wait time, which exceeded an hour. A larger dining space would definitely help.• Bluewater Grill – Overall very good. The skirt steak was especially enjoyed by several members of our group. A couple of guests had mixed experiences with other menu items, but overall we were satisfied.• Sundaez – Definitely worth a visit. The ice cream was excellent and became a regular stop for many of us.• On a Roll Burger Bar – The burgers were decent, but the rolls were simply too large and overwhelmed the meat.• Hibachi – The food was okay, but the chefs made the experience. We had a group of 10 and couldn't get a private table, which was disappointing, but the staff's energy and attentiveness still made it enjoyable.Although I personally felt disappointed by the lack of recognition and accommodations for bringing such a large group to the resort, the exceptional staff, beautiful property, and overall experience far outweighed those frustrations. This is why, I rated 5 stars instead of 4. Would I return? Probably Yes!That said, I have to repeat myself the staff was exceptional throughout our stay, and their kindness and attentiveness are the reason we would gladly return in the future. They are truly the heart of this resort. Their kindness, professionalism, and dedication turned what could have been an average stay into a memorable one.

  Had a great time at the Dreams Onyx. Clean, friendly staff overall. Went as a family, the kids loved the lazy river and pool and arcade area. Food was good and kids loved going to the buffet. Best was the Mexican restaurant. There are windows where the buffet is not open ie. 1130-1230 which seemed to be when the kids wanted to eat but there was a grab and go option if needed just a bit limited. We upgraded when we got there and Albert (butler) was a fantastic support and made sure we had everything we needed. Meals, spas, advice on activities he was there. It was great to have him checking in on us and he left an amazing gift for Mothers Day in the room. Made it feel very special. Would maybe save money on the spa but they were very friendly and welcoming so if want can relax there for an afternoon. Activities were also a little sparse as the main eating section is away from where they would host most things. I think it just pulled people away a bit and we were not there during a peak time. Overall really enjoyed our vacation. Would visit again.   A great family vacation. I highly recommend Dreams Punta Cana

  Each year we take a family vacation, previously three years in Cancun. This vacation was exceptional for all our twelve members, ranging from age 7 to 78, and Dreams resort made each feel welcome, wanted, and insured we had a great time. If I were to improve in any way, it would be better nightly entertainment, but we are not complaining. (Our only complaint was the travel accomodations - two groups within our family spent 12+ hours to arrive and return home. Not your fault.   We spent a week at Dreams Onyx, very nice resort. Plenty of activities for adults and children. Plenty of food options , food quality was excellent.
