    Left My Family Stranded After Canceling 4 Confirmed Reservations

    I had a very disappointing experience with Casas del XVI and would strongly advise others to be cautious when booking here.I had four confirmed reservations with valid confirmation numbers under a pay-at-property policy, meaning payment was not supposed to be processed until arrival. Despite this, all of my reservations were canceled without any prior notice. I did not receive a phone call, voicemail, email, or even a message informing me that there was any issue.When I contacted the hotel, I was initially told that the reservations were canceled due to a “payment failure,” which makes no sense given the agreed payment terms. After waiting for a response, the explanation suddenly changed, and I was told that their normal rate is much higher. I was then offered the same rooms at a drastically inflated price, which clearly shows that the issue was not payment, but rather the rate I had booked.Because of this lack of communication and unprofessional handling, I was left scrambling at the last minute to find alternative accommodations for my family. This created unnecessary stress, additional costs, and completely disrupted our plans.What’s most concerning is not just the cancellation, but the way it was handled—no transparency, inconsistent explanations, and an apparent attempt to resell the rooms at a higher rate.This experience reflects very poorly on their management and customer service. I would not trust this property to honor confirmed reservations, and I would not stay here in the future.

    We stayed at Casas del XVI for four nights, and everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The staff was exceptionally kind, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed, which truly made our stay special.The breakfast was generous, delicious, and beautifully prepared each morning. We stayed at Casas del Pozo, and having direct access from our room to the swimming pool was a wonderful touch. The inner courtyard was peaceful, intimate, and beautifully designed, a perfect place to relax after a day of exploring.The hotel is ideally located, within walking distance of the main attractions in the Colonial Zone, and situated in a very safe and quiet area of Santo Domingo.Casas del XVI combines elegance, comfort, and outstanding service, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and luxurious stay in the heart of the city.

    I have lost count the number of times we have stayed at Casas del XVI and each time was lovely. The staff are very accommodating and welcoming. There is a great selection for breakfast items and all are delicious. We used their car service for the first time on our last trip and could not have been more pleased. They have made us feel like family...we would not stay anywhere else in Santo Domingo!
